Collect Questions

This is just a flyer based on my report on the Reiki regs mtg.
To get the voices of the majority of Reiki people heard. Could a loose association of Reiki people be formed on a regional basis.
The last thing I want is a big bureucratic structure. I live in Hertfordshire, so could join with Bucks and Beds. There would be NO committees, and so NO fees, but those who joined would pass their email addresses on, and maybe a meeting could be organised once a quarter, so people could "network" (oh how I hate that word) or listen to a talk from organisations we are connected with, NHS, hospices, charities
What do you think, so when proposals come up to try to make us do what others want. We could get together, and give our views as groups and not individuals. Otherwise the single person will get steamrollered. And I don't want people telling me how I should conduct my Reiki practice.

I have tried to suggest things like this over the last few months. I hope you get a better response. I am going to be a bit cynical and say people want to moan and harp on but not prepared to fight for what they believe in.
I for one along with two other people have been writing to the associations to tell them how we feel I have even suggested the reiki assoc log onto this site to see exactly how people feel.
I will send Reiki to this thread in the hope you will be heard.

I agree but I feel there can be central points for information gathering and then this can be sent out by email so that everyone that wishes to be involved can be. Some people do not have the time or inclination to travel to groups but many are happy to receive information so that they can act upon it.
There was also a mention of a petition, and I also think that is an excellent idea but first you need to decide what the petition is for, as far as we are concerned it is for Reiki to be removed from the Complementary Medicine arena and to be seen as a Spiritual Art alongside other spiritual arts, meditation, crystal healing, dowsing etc etc
I have also contacted the British Astrological and Psychic Society as many of their mediums, clairvoyants and tarot readers are also Reiki healers and Reiki Masters.

Maybe someone could write a template letter that we could print out, sign and post to a relevant person? Might encourage people to complain.

Count me in. It's about time we took a stand.
Personally I'm terrible about formulating letters etc but if we were united and could use different skills to put a letter with a petition together from all of us, I think people will be happy to put their names to it.

Unfortunately someone would have to be willing to give time and effort into organising the events, maintaining details of members and co-ordinating the speaker and many other details. This would involve costs - telephone, postage and possibly travel, let alone the cost of the meeting room and the fees of the speakers - with the danger that they (the organiser), would be financially responsible for the costs if no-one chose to attend the function.
And, before you knew it - you would have yet another Reiki Organisation with a Bank Account, stationery and all the accoutrements.:(
I DO SO WISH things were as simple as your suggestion.

It's an online only association, open to any Reiki practitioner and it's free of charge.
Could this serve the purpose?

A standard letter is an excellent idea but first you need to define what Reiki IS.
If you choose to come under the umberella of CM then there is no way out of NOS.
If you choose Reiki as spiritual practise then there is an opportunity for Reiki to be removed from CM and retain its Spiritual integrity and Spiritual Practise, hence it would have spiritual practise standards instead of clinical practise standards.
I recommend that you all view the links that I have provided and read the articles written by the Institute of Complementary Medicine against the Lords Report. Listed on Lionman's other thread, Skills 4 Life which should be Skills for Health.
Your MP holds the most power to help you in whatever you decide and choose. Because NOS is not LAW at this point. So NOBODY can force you to do anything against your wish. But if you do not act a minority group e.g. RRWG will have their way with NOS and if you do not comply with this your qualifications and that of your students will not be recognised as professional practitioner's.

I think that you are looking at this a glass "half empty" way.
The point is that there are no costs. A 'co-ordinator' would have the email adds., on their computer, hence no stamps, cost of tele-calls etc is negligable(sic).
'Members' are organised on a regional basis so don't have far to travel
Many speakers provide services for travelling expenses or free.
Meetings may only take place every quarter, or even weekly if there is a demand, you can hire a room for a couple of hours for about £20
And every 'regional group' will be autonimous
From my experience many Reiki practitioners are by circumstance 'on their own' and welcome contact with others, that is why my practice evenings are so popular, many find after attunement nobody to try out on
If we are not going to be OPTIMISTIC, then we might as well give up

You can count me in too. I'm fed-up to the back teeth with all the bickering that has been going on in other threads and I know I'm not the only one! Something has got to be done and I like your idea better than any that's being forced on us,

I did as Bee sugested and looked at the The Global Reiki Association site there is a good code of ethics posted there. One I could certainly abide by. thank you Bee
I think Lion man is right we can come together as a virtual community and meet occasional. I dont think this is so hard Paul, through HP things are already happening like this.
If you go to the general discussion you will see people already meeting up in the south west. The interenet make things so much easier it is an easy way to send information out.
If we are not careful if we do not unite to have a voice divided we will fall!



I will be up for something like this if we can get it up and running. I also feel that reiki is not a complementry therapy, I get so many different images and intuition about the client when doing reiki that no two sessions are ever the same.

I have located my MP at long last any of you who have written would you be willing to share? Also maybe as I have suggested before we can have a virtual petition where we use our e-mail address instead of signature. Maybe a letter to a MP would form the basis of the petition.

yes I agree and all MP's appear to have websites now so can be contacted this way. I have also been sending regular updates to my MP on documents from the ICM, correspondence with RRWG etc. The MP's need the full picture so that they can act, mine also asked me for a meeting so that he could really understand the issues. I await his feedback from his invesitgations.
