Question:
Hi
I've just heard about just4weeks but I haven't bought anything yet and I was wondering if anybody knows about this low GI diet.
As far as I can see it's quite healthy, high GI carbohydrates are reduced, but low GI carbohydrates are ok, vegetables are fine and small quantities of fruit, eggs, lean meats are ok too.
I'm having difficulty finding information out there because they want you to buy the package which costs about £50 so they don't release too many recipes or details on which foods are recommended.
It seems highly rated by papers and such, but I'd prefer to hear from someone who's tried it.
Thanks

Hi there
I'm no expert, but from what I'm reading at the moment, a diet based on your GI isn't as straightforward as some authors make it sound! - e.g if you are eating something with a high GI index, and you co mbine it with something with a low GI index, it balances out, so there is no need to avoid eating things with a high GI, just make sure you balance them.
As I said, I am certainly no expert, the book I am reading is called "Eating well for optimum health" by Dr Andrew Weil, you should be able to get it from a bookshop or amazon. It talks about nutrition basics, and how and what to eat. Recommended reading for all!
Hope that helps!
Thanks for your replies, I thought I'd give you an update. I was sent the pack for free in the end, because I expressed an interest in the franchise. I'm not doing the franchise because they require an initial investment, but I didn't expect them to send me the recipes and main diet plan for free.
I've been doing this diet for just over a week now and I've lost almost 4 pounds (an inch around my waist and 1/4 in on average everywhere else). I'm feeling good and much more energised than before.
I haven't been hungry at all and this is really a breeze to do and has given me the results I was looking for. I am confident I can do this for months and lose the stone I needed to lose.
I am eating well in the morning (here are some examples: thin sliced cold chicken, cheese and tomato; cheese and cold thin sliced chicken omelette; pastrami, tomatoes and mushrooms; oily fish and tomatoes) which makes me less hungry by lunchtime (example: vegetable soup and a slice of wholemeal bread; prawns and avocado salad with mayonnaise; ceasar salad with mayonnaise no croutons). In the evening I have a main meal (lean meat or fish and lots of vegetables).
I've also looked into supplements and have got a fish oil supplement, a flaxseed oil supplement, calcium with vitamin C and Magnesium, and iron.
I have slightly corrected the original meal plan: I'm not comforable with eating 6 eggs a week on average, I'm also not comfortable with the idea of eating so much ham and bacon because of the harmful preservatives, so I'm replacing that with other low carb cold meats or oily fish. I'm not sure how to replace the eggs, I might try cheese, I can still have 3 eggs a week, but 6 might boost the cholesterol too much.
I've found a low fat cheese with low carbs, most low fat foot has very high carbs, it's worth checking the label for low fat AND low carbs.
I have eliminated all grains and milk from my diet and use extra virgin olive oil, mayonnaise in small quantities, and tiny quantities of real butter rather than margarines. I have eliminated potatoes peas and carrots, and bananas because of the high carb content, and I'm grilling, baking or par boiling my food.
I can't see anything wrong with this diet and it's working, I think eating a hearty breakfast with proteins works well for me and stops the carb cravings I used to have. And I never used to have breakfast or even think I was hungry before but now I really look forward to it!
I am very pleased with myself at the moment, it looks as if this is the diet I was looking for. I'm not going over the top at all, and I've shed almost 4 pounds in a week. It should be pretty easy to shed another 10 in the next few weeks and then I'm done, in time for Christmas.
And the best thing is, I selected my menu for the work Christmas meal and I can have plenty of food, I've only cut down on the potatoes with my steak and veg, I chose a cheese platter with no crackers for dessert and I've chosen a caesar salad with no croutons for the starter, so I'm still joining in and having a great meal, whilst following my diet.
Oh, I've also eliminated all sugar, alcohol, fruit juices and other soft drinks, tea and coffee and all sweets and chocolate. That wasn't a sacrifice for me anyway. I am drinking a herbal mandarin and gingseng tea which I got from Holland and Barrett and it is delicious (no sugar of course), the only herbal tea I've tried that really tastes great.
This is easy!
Was wondering best girl who you got this from as i too am looking for the information but cannot to be honest afford it I have cancer and have just undergone treatment and was told i have insulin resistance and should go on the low gi diet to loose weight but cannot afford so any info would be much appreciated.
thanks
lisa
