Question:
Hi everyone :)
I've been using this site for a while, but have only just come across the Mind Therapies section, and I am so glad I found it! I first had EFT with a therapist about a year ago and I was blown away by it (in a good way!) About six months later I did a one day course to learn more about using it on myself, and have done so since then with some amazing results. However, I had never come across Choices until reading some of the wonderfully informative posts on this forum.
I have a quick question, which may sound a little basic, but I would appreciate it if anyone could answer it for me. When using the Choices Trio do you complete the gamut between each round, or simply use it at the end of the three rounds? Similarly, having seen Alfred's post on the 'Using EFT to believe in EFT' he recommends tapping for the negative and then for the opposite positive phrase. Would you complete a gamut in between the two? Also, am I right in my understanding that you omit the set-up when tapping a positive affirmation or Choice?
Sorry if I'm wittering away, quite tired and scatty after a long day at work! Hope this makes some sense!
Thanks, love Annie x
Hi Annie
I must admit, I only use the gamut sequence these days if there is a bit of resistance in the preceeding rounds.
I use a setup and choices statement together. ie, even though xxx, I deeply and completely accept myself, and I choose to xxx. Or, even though xxx, I choose to let it go (or other choice) and I deeply and completely accept myself.
Hope this answers your question Annie

Thanks Steve! I'm quite inexperienced in all this! The person who taught me emphasised that the gamut was important for balancing the brain, and suggested it was done after each round of tapping, but I was finding that it made my eyes ache when I kept rolling them! (maybe I should have tapped for eyeache too!) :D If I understood your post correctly it's not really neccessary to do the gamut unless the problem doesn't shift quickly?
Also, I was taught to tap as far as (and including) the collarbone, but I have since seen in various books and on websites that there are further points on the hands etc. In your experience is it better to include these as well?
Sorry to keep asking questions, but I really want to make sure that I use EFT in the best possible way, and any advice from anyone is gratefully recieved!
Thanks!
Love and sunshine, Annie x
You are correct, I only do the gamut if the problem is hard to shift. Also, as you are inexperienced, it is better to use all the tapping points. if you want the whole lot I would download the free manual from Gary Craigs website. It gives all the instructions you would need.

Hi Steve
Thanks for the advice! I have read the manual - which is where I first saw the additional tapping points. Thanks for the link though, please let me know if you know of any other good websites. I'm also considering looking at using Emotrance - there is a course in a nearby town. Do you have any experience of this?
Thanks very much for your advice!
Annie
I am an experienced EmoTrance practitioner and would highly recommend it. It is very elegant in the way it can be easily combined with any other therapy.
The company I would recommend is called Passion for Health Ltd. Their website is
Go for it.

Hi Annie
like Steve I am trained/experienced with Emotrance and find it a very useful tool when working with people.
The main point of it is to feel the energy of 'the issue' wherever it is and let it soften and flow.
People often want to tell me what it looks like as they are so used ot 'find a symbol for this pain etc'..but all we need to do is 'find it as energy and let it soften and flow'
The originator of this work is Slivia Hartmann and I find her an extremely creative thinker
good luck

Hi
Thanks for all the advice and information - it's really interesting! I've tried using a few choices, and have found that I feel really positive and upbeat afterwards, which is absolutely fantastic!
I shall investgate Emotrance further and have a bit more of a search on the net - the one or two pages that I've already found look really good. The course that I am considering is an 'intensive one day practitioner training' - in your experience is this the kind of thing that can be covered adequately in one day?
Take care, Annie x
Emotrance is elegant yet simple to learn, so I believe with the right trainer it could be learnt in a day.

Hmmm.... Now if sensible folk like you guys are doing Emotrance, maybe it's not so crazy after all... I had discounted emotrance because it's described by Sylvia Hartmann in terms that make me cringe. What's the main difference between emotrance and EFT and what am I missing out on?
BTW, Welcome Back Dez! [sm=bouncy.gif][sm=wave.gif][sm=bouncy.gif]
In short...
EFT treats the problem by tapping on meridian points to release blocked energy whilst tuning into the problem itself.
EmoTrance delas with the feeling you get about the problem. You focus on the feeling as though it is an actual object, and because the feeling is only energy and all energy responds instantly to the power of our thoughts, you can focus your attention on allowing it to soften and flow. Once it starts to soften and flow, it will move and make tracks to leave your body.
I was working with a young lady who had a severe phobic response to birds. Any bird would completely freak her out. So I got her tuned into the problem, and started EFT. (She was quite upset at even thinking about the birds, even though none were present.) It was taking a little while to make any semblance of progress as she kept coming up with more aspects of ever increasing levels of anxiety. After a while longer, the tapping (even though very gentle,) became uncomfortable because she was crying and her nose was running. So I just carried on the process with EmoTrance and asked her to focus on the feeling inside.
She quickly made progress on the phobia and found it very calming.
She has now completely turned her life around and can venture outside with no fear of the way she used to respond.
She didn't know that I was using another technique; it was so elegant that she thought it was all part of the same process.
EmoTrance is great with telephone clients, no need to get them to tap.

Sounds great! Thank you all for the advice, you've been very kind.
Can I ask another question please? :)
Is it possible to do a round of EFT just using a positive choice? Say for example, I just wanted to use the phrase 'I choose to feel relaxed and confident' to 'top-up' during the day. Does some form of set-up need to be incorporated into this, or would you perhaps just tap the main points whilst repeating the phrase? Or, is it essential that you use the 'even though' with a negative before the positive choice? Hope this makes sense!
Thanks again for all your help!
Love Annie
If you want to state that you choose to feel relaxed and confident, then by deduction you are obviously not feeling it now, so what are you feeling now? ie, a little stressed and unconfident. Then I would tap for little stressed and unconfident and then add the I choose to let these feelings go and be replaced with relaxed and confident at the end.

thanks for the welcome back suzanne.
i agree that putting a positive in after we have cleared the negative , is the way to go.
after all if your glass is full you have to take a drink before you can put something else in
