Question:
HI, can someone help pls. I'm a f/t massage therapist looking to further train. I'm looking at training in cranial sacral therapy. However what I'm not clear about is how similar this is to the John Barnes myofascial release techniques...? I saw something somewhere that Ruth Duncan wrote that "cranial sacral therapy is MFR" (or the other way about).
My cranial osteopath does some wicked stuff with me that has set me thinking that I want to be able to do it with my clients too. It feels like a bit of unwinding. So I'm after a course which can give me these skills. I'm looking at a CST course in the Cotswolds, but the last thing I want is to get to 2 years later at the end of the course and the guts of £6k to find out it wasn't quite what I was after.
Can anyone help determine the difference for me please? And has anyone been on the CST course in the Cotswolds?
I will be going on an intro weekend where of course I'll ask lots of questions, but feel I need more info at present.
MANY THANKS!
Lilmo
hi Limo,
i havent studied CST, but have studied connective tissue manipulation and later different MFR techniques such as Dalton, Riggs, Barnes and Myers systems.
Having had CST from an osteopath and two comp therapists I have to say it didnt work for me. We used to have a therapist in our clinic, but it was very unpopular with our clients so we dropped the therapy. MFR on the other hand has been hugely popular and our clients ask for it by name, and we get lots of referrals for it.
In my opinion the CST I have received was the same as one particular MFR technique, which is a very basic hold technique.
