Yipeeee, a break through with a Vet:)
I guess the answer to your question will depend on what your current brochure says...can you give us a clue

I have been forunate to meet many vets who are interested and sympathetic to reiki and other altenative healing, provided the right care is given to the horses in other ways.
I have never had a vet disrespect reiki that i know of, most vets simply want to do what is right for animals, same as we do,

Thanks for the responses so far my brochure is written towards Humans - I have done training with an animal healer and have been wanting to get along side a vet so would like to slant my brochure towards animals.
I have three dogs, five cats and 13 ducks the vet is amazed that my geriactric animals are so fit and healthy so I told him I did reiki and I beleived it helped to keep them fit. We had a great chat about reiki he asked me how I did it and seemed very interested I am going to take him some cards but would like to take some brochures as well

Hi Somerset Angel
Just tell it like it is, Reiki works the same way with animals as it does 'us', animals will always let you know if they want the Reiki energy or not, ie; staying still for you, nudgeing you for the attention, or running in the opposite direction 'cause it's a big no~no for them. That you always ask permission from each animal and respect both their response and that of the owner....that Reiki is a 'hands off' treatment, unless you have permission from the owner or Vet that you may be working with...use your own animals as small case studies and pop a picture or two in ~ if you are able to, also mention that Reiki will help stressed out animals and that you can direct the energy at a distance so not to stress an animal out further, and very importantly that you would not normally treat an animal unless it has already had a diagnosis from a Vet unless of course it was an emergency...and that you would be there to work/completment the Vet, not work against them...stating the obvious there I know...but you'll be surprised[&:]
Hope that helps...let us know how you get on.
Oh and you could put a search into the HP engine for Reiki and Amimals in the Pets forum...it brings up some interesting threads...which may give you some ideas!

Hi, if you're still looking for info for your brochure etc I have an article on my website (see below for link) about reiki with horses you might like to look at. For info, I also had a hypnotherapy client a few weeks ago who brought her rather frisky doberman along as a sort of comfort. I calmed him down with reiki so that we could concentrate on trancework without him jumping up!

Hi Somerset Angel,
My vet's Reiki 1 and she uses it to treat and calm animals. She also has a vet. nurse who's Reiki 2 and offers Reiki treatment in her practice brochure. She does a lot of alternative treatments (e.g. homeopathy, acupuncture etc) and the 3 vet practice has an excellent reputation in the area. If your vet wants some peer reassurance, I'm sure she'd be willing to discuss it.
Her name's Barbara Jones MRCVS, Oakwood Veterinary Centre, Whittington, Oswestry, Shropshire Tel:01691 679699

Hope that helps,
