Hi
I had my first ever class last night of reiki 1. At the beginning of the class we had to let go ouf all our thoughts, lift them up and lift them to the white light above and then let the white light flood through us.
The second half of the class the reiki master went around and attuned everone.
Can anyone tell me what she did. I know what she physically did, I know what i felt, but what does attunement do for you?

Your question mirrors a similar question in another topic.
As I am now beginning to realise, your Reiki Master performed a ritual solely to confirm your existing connection to the Universal Energy and to reassure you that you have always been connected to the Energy. Had she just told you that fact you would not have believed her and so she performed a ritual to comfort you.
Gets a bit deep I'm afraid.

Hi Jo,
Your Reiki Master's intent was to place the Reiki Symbols in your Chakras (Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart and the minor Chakras in the palms of your hands).
It all comes down to 'INTENT' - the Reiki Master's and yours.

I am going to get a couple of books and read up on it also.
I have bid for a book on ebay - Reiki for Life by Penelope Quest, so hopefully I will get it.

It's a good book and easy to read. I'd certainly recommend it for anyone new to reiki.

Well, I won the book on ebay, I have paid so hopefully it will come though in the next few days.
I went to the class for the second time last night, and the master attuned us again.
I had a lot more feeling last night than the first week, I think I am learning to relax more, and I did the seated hand movements on the lady next to me and I could keel my hands buzzing, like there was electricity there. Especially on her head area. I have never felt anything like that before. I was amazed.

sounds really wonderful, am planning on doing a reiki 1 & 2 in the new year.
Have to say I'm stunned that the Reiki master didn't explain what an attunement does.
