Question:
After the initial consultation and treatment. How oftenor how do you document and revise the consultation sheets and effects form the previous massage?
I know it's obvoiusly good to revise regular but how regular and what sort of question do you ask as a therapist on previous treatments.
Would like to be as professional as poss and get it right. Thanks.
First of all, congratulations on passing your VTCT!
After every treatment, I try to document anything I should definitely remember such as did they sleep better, have their shoulders felt easier, etc. Then on the day they are due to come back I review any notes I have written and ask them about those points to see if there has been further improvement. I will then ask if they have noticed anything else. Often if you start by asking a client how they have been since you last saw them, they will start telling you anything you need to know anyway.
That is my approach, partly due to a bad memory! Others may have a different approach.
Hope that helps.

Hi Touchyfeely
I agree with Florence that I would revisit the notes I made from the previous treatment before the next one. That way you can remind yourself that, egthey liked a particular section of the massage, didn't want work done on xyz and wanted firmer pressure on the scalp. This will make it look like you have listened to the answers they gave you last time, helps with building the relationship between the two of you and appears very professional.
I also ask a quick few questions on changes in medication, anything in particular wanting working on this visit, how have they been in themselves, how did they feel after the last treatment etc. A few minutes at the beginning of each massage can also help them to focus on what's coming up and forget all about the outside world!
Good luck!!!
