help with explaining cause of post treatment reactions
Question:

Hello!
I have been practicing and teaching reiki (up to level III) for a little over a year now. I have been having a hard time finding very descriptive, to the point, explanations for a question I've repeatedly been faced with. The question most clients ask after their 1st ever treatment is: "why can't I move any of my body parts, even if I try?" they lay there for anywhere between 15-30 mins before regaining control of their limbs. Even if I use all the grounding techniques taught to me on them (i.e drink water, pinch ear lobes, pinch big toes) are they still "sinked into the table". Now I use a CD from Steven Halpern called chakra suite that has SEM audio technology which is made of 2 tones that are the same frequency as the earth's core, and bringing the brainwave patterns to the theta state, therefore increasing the healing effects of the treatment.
Now I currently tell them that it has to do with their aura not being grounded (which is what i've been told). Now I want to make sure that I have the correct explanation for what is happening to them after a treatment. All of them end up having their limbs twitch without their control and/or they end up in a teeth clacking shaking episode as though they're feverish, but aren't. then it stops and they all feel extremely calm and good after the whole ordeal.
Now i've been told the eyeballs twitching like crazy in a treatment means the negative energy is escaping from the brow or crown chakras. i've also heard it's from deep relaxation. which on is accurate? what is the true reason why most people after their 1st ever treatment can't move their limbs and/or twitch/shiver after the treatment? is it the nervous system? the aura? if so, what if happening to the system when the shivering/numb limbs occur?
See, I am putting together case studies so i may create a proposal to introduce reiki into the general hospital here in regina, sk, can. reiki is a very doubted practice here, so i am looking for descriptions that are as technical and medically sound as posible. can anyone help ?

Hi CarolineWhat you are describing is very common, a lot of what they sense is just tension being released in the body, I have had people twist and turn on the table into all sorts of contortions to help realign them, some have lost all sensations from their bodies, so they feel it is not there any more during the treatment and others say their bodies left the table and have been floating in the air, sometimes limbs do lift up in the air involuntary. They can feel the same things you feel when being attuned and often do receive information, insight and visions during a treatment.
Energy work is all about balance, it reaches into every aspect of the person we are treating and does its best to rebalance them on as many levels as possible, it is not generally the aura that is in need of grounding, it is more the energies moving them out of the way sothey can get on withthere work.Unfortunately everyone's experience is unique, there is no set pattern that we can predict and warn them about, they like us at times have to let go and trust that they will be looked after in a way that is most appropriate to their individual requirements. As for medical explanations, it is a spiritual/holistic practice which is an alien concept to most medical practitioners, though they do use a similar method of treating people when they anesthetise them to enable them to get on with their work, if they omitted the muscle relaxant, then they would probably have a similar scenario but that is about as near as you will get because they will still be working on the physical level and you are caperble of working on all levels of exsistance.

I just tell clients that their energy is rebalancing itself, the reaction is normal and just to let it happen. I yawn when my clients release energy, and they all get told that at the beginning, so any reaction in them that coincides with my yawning is taken to be a good thing.
