A Good Book
Question:

Hi,
I have been thinkin of learning Tai Chi to help with some joint problems and for my overall health, could anyone recomend a good book, the ones I have seen in shops look very amatuerish (I already do martial arts- well until I was injured).
Thanks :D

Answers:

Hi Wataru,
I would suggest not trying to learn the Tai Chi from a book, try and find a class in your area, much more fun!

Answers:

Plus it is nealy impossible to lern from a book, you need the guidance from a trained instructer.

I have a friend in CO. who learned an entire form from a book and then when he had the opportunity to learn it from an instructor, the instructor said he was surprised how much he had gotten from a book. Naturally there was alot of corrections.

I saw a man become certified to teach Tai Chi Short Form last summer.
He said he had only been to one class in his life. He received some helpful corrections in the class but he had learned the entire form from a DVD .
I always recommend working with a teacher but when you don't have one near you don't hold back, learn what you can with whatever medium is at hand. Everybody is different and has differing learning styles. In my opinion this guy needed some postural support but his chi flow was amazing. I could feel it across the room.
