A question about smudging
Question:

I just did my first ever bit of proper crystal healing on my cat...having done some research on the matter...I used my wand and now i need to cleanse it again.
Can you smudge with a normal incense stick or does it have to be sage, sandalwood etc?
I sat and "cleansed" all my crystals the other night using the smoke of a nag champa incense stick, but i keep reading about smudging with these certain scents....so maybe I haven't cleansed mine at all?

Provided it's not a crystal that doesn't like water ie: Selenite, then why not just run it under the cold water tap and let it dry naturally :)

Nag champa is fine to cleanse your crystals, although I prefer sage, but the nag champra will still cleanse them.
If I've run out of sage, I will use nag champra.
There are quite a few ways of cleansing them, as Kachina has mentioned water is one, but you will find the way you prefer.
My preferred method is sage.
P.S As a rule of thumb crystals that end in 'ite' do not like to be immmersed in water.

Hi Yarnie
I don't like using water on my crystals (probably because I've gotso much fluorite!!) or smudging because it makes me cough! So, I tend to use reiki, a singing bowl or just intention to cleanse my crystals.Try different methods and see which works best for you and your crystals.
I'd be interested to know what your cat made of the healing. One of my cats adores crystalsbut the other runs a mile, much like my hubby!;)

Hi Luna
She seemed quite happy - I just sat near her for a while with the wand first to see how she'd react. Normally she comes up and sniffs my crystals and then ignores them. But she was rubbing her head on the wand and it was almost as if she was trying to bite or eat it, but in a way that suggested she liked it. As soon as I started rotating it over her base chakra she laid down and just stayed there next to my leg while I took negativity away from them all and then replaced it with positive energy/healing. She seemed really chilled after that so I was quite pleased!
I do wash most of my crystals under water but I'm never quite sure which ones to avoid getting wet...

Ps. the wand I used was like this : (I hope the pic works, i've only copy and pasted so I bet it doesn't work)
Basically the wand itself is made of some kind of glass or plastic I think, and there are crystals soldered onto it, with clear quartz at one end, amethyst at the other and little bits of other crystals (not sure what they are) in the middle. I wasn't sure if it was ok to wash it with the soldering on it, but then people solder cars and then drive in the rain?! [sm=idea.gif]

Go with your insticts regarding 'cleansing' of crystals, you seem to be doing just fine so far :)one of the other methods I use is 'visualization' I image a waterfall & stream, and I place my crystals in that, and allow the flowing waters to cleanse them for me.

It's not what you use to cleanse your crystals - its what you think when doing it - the thoughtforms are the actual active participant - salt water, smudges, oils, sunlight, moonlight, burying in the garden - all of this stuff is just paraphanalia to help you adopt the frame of mind to create appropriate thoughtforms...

I use breath to cleanse my crystals. It's the intent that counts.

Hi Yarnie,
I use sound as well as the other methods mentioned for cleansing my crystals. I have some Tibetan Tingshaws (don't know if I've spelt it right) they are like little cymbals - also a Tibetan Bell and Bowls. Makes a nice sound too.

Actually Binah I've been wanting some tingshas for ages but I've never got round to treating myself. Using smoke doesn't seem to go too well with me - I always seem to end up stinking of smoke! :DAnd with water I'm still worried that I don't know which crystals shouldn't be put in water, as different books seem to say different things, and somehow just thinking about cleansing doesn't seem to do it for me ... I'm still having problems with the whole "intention" theory ... I'm someone who needs a physical thing to happen for it to work, if that makes sense?! I guess as I develop my spiritual side further I may find it easier to do things by intention.

Woohoo - I got some tingshaws for my birthday!!!!! :)
