Hi All,
I'm in Darwin Australia at the moment and have just been offered work as a massage therapist, starting ain a couple of weeks.I'm VTCT qualified but have let both my insurance and membership lapse recently. Both of them only covered me for work in the UK.
I need to arrange for cover here and to join an Australian massage assoaciation but i have no idea where to begin. I think i need to have my qualifications assessed but i'm not sure.
Is there anyopne that can give me some pointers and or a little advise about what to do next.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Hi Sam[/align][/align]I know there have been some moves in Australia to regulate some of the therapies but not sure how far they have got, have you done a search for an Australian insurance company which will provide you with professional indemnity insurance for massage over there.[/align][/align]I am not sure you will need reassessing in Australia, I don't think they are as strict as America and Canada are but you really need to chat to an Australian massage therapist who should be able to give you the low-down on what is required over there.[/align][/align]Aren't there any Australian health chat boards like HP?[/align]

How unusual, today my partner and I received our immigration visas for australia.
i was about to turn off my system and your note was staring at me.
I do not have an answer to your question, but I am very interested in the answer.
if anyone knows could you let me know how viable ITEC and VTCT are in Melb Aus.
Also any links to chase to look into potential opportunites with ITEC in holistic massage, aromatherapy and reflexology.

Hi Sam,
You need to make sure that the Association you join cover Northern Territory. Give the Australasian College of Natural Therapies a call (I trained there). They're based in Sydney but you can guarantee they'll know which associations cover NT and which insurance providers to look at. Good luck!
