Question:
could someone help? i am suffering at the moment from anxiety... main symptoms including tingling hands, dizziness, dissociation/depersonalisation (scary!!), headaches and an underlying uneasiness, i have other stuff going on but this is what's causing the most trouble... i don't have panic attacks, or at least i haven't had one for a good few months, it's more a general kind of thing. it started about a month ago while i was on holiday in mexico. about half the time i felt really bad for no apparent reason. the rest of the time i had an amazing time, and sunbathing is hardly stressful :D
the symptoms seem worse at work (i am a dancer at a club) and i have had to leave early/call in sick several times.
i want to use EFT to get better, but don't know where to start. tapping on the symptoms has had no effect "even though i have this tingling in my hands/headache/wierd feelings etc" and i am not sure where to go from here. i also tried "even though i am afraid of these feelings" and that didn't help either.
short history... i split up with abusive ex nearly a year ago and have had some problems with him since. going through divorce. however. none of these things are upsetting me like they were, if anything i feel better now about it than i ever have. it's as if the anxiety has hit just as i am feeling more relaxed and starting to get over it. i'm not sure where to go with it as i can't pinpoint any feelings that cause intensity really.
can anyone help? i thought EFT would get rid of it straight away but i am obviously doing it wrong. i don't really have much experience with EFT anyway, though have used it for smaller issues with great results.

Hi Sarah,
Unfortunately it'll take a lot of EFT tapping to work on the symptoms especially if the underlying cause is still there (no point puttinga plaster on a cut, if someone keeps sticking a blade in!).
You say it stared in mexico.Think back to that time when you first felt really bad and what you were doing at the time. If necessary, close your eyes and feel the feeling of you being there and how bad you felt, and give it a score and create your setup statement from that. Do some tapping using that setup statement and phrase and then re-visit that memory to score it again, altering your wording for any subsequent tapping as you feel you need.
See how that goes for starters.
Do you think there is any link to your ex. in relation to these feelings? If so you may want to tap on those (don't think about it too hard, just go with what first pops into your head, as that is usually what your unconscious mind is thinking rather than what your conscious mind is filtering)

Sarah, your problem has many aspects and will not disappear instantly - so stop beating youself up about it! ;)
Anxiety is merely a symptom, not a problem itself. You can think of it as a friend who is here to help you, saying "I want you to look at these emotions that need healing, I want you to change your way of doing things so you will be safer in the future, I want you to look after yourself". Life changes in a holistic way are there for you once you deal with the underlying negative emotional blocks.
I think a few sessions with a practitioner should get you on the path to healing, and then you can carry on yourself or maybe you will choose to work with a therapist all the way. EFT takes between 5 minutes and 2 years depending on the number of aspects involved. Compared to a lifetime of counselling or long-term medication (unless physically needed), I think that's a pretty good deal.

i have contacted an EFT practitioner by email that i found on Gary Craig's site.
in the meantime i'm gonna try and make a list of everything i'm feeling and have been, tap my way through it and see how i get on with it, and what else pops up. giles, you are probably right, this most likely has a lot to do with my ex, and also i've realised that now i'm not with him anymore and there is no-one elseto throw myself headlong into a relationship with, i have to really look at my own life and think about where it's going. scary stuff!

Maybe scary, but just think of the positive side. You've got a clean(ish) slate and experience to guide you where you really want to go. How cool is that! :)
