Detecting old and new imbalances?
Question:

Hi

I have just completed my VTCT reflexology and have been left with a question I hadn't really thought about before and am hoping someone could help me with it.

When the therapist detects congestion (bubble wrap, grittiness etc) does that indicate that there has been an imbalance in that area for some time, even an indication of a childhood illness perhaps?

When the client feels that an area is tender but the therapist doesn't feel any signs of congestion, does that mean the imbalance is more recent?

Many thanks
Sandra

Hi Sebenny,
I was taught that you could tell the difference in new and old inbalances by how the client feels them. A sharp pinprick feeling is a recent inblance, whereas a dull ache or bruised feeling is old, and sensirive can be from childhood,
Hope that helps!!

Interesting issue you raise - I also did VTCT Reflexology but didnt come across what you enquire about on course, however I have since been advise of what you say. Also believe I heard someone indicate differences between detection on left or right foot, where a reflex appears on both!

Hi All,
I think for the most part old imbalances are harder, deeper and less tender whilst the newer once present as more granular or tender.
