Oils to use for water retention in last week of Pregnancy
Question:

Hello everyone - I was hoping someone could give me a little sound advice about which oils to use in the last 2 weeks of pregnancy. My friend has 2 weeks left to go and is in agony with excess water in her lower leg (knee to ankle to be precise).[&o] She would like to know if a lower leg massage would help reduce the swelling and which oils to use. Thank you for reading this post and hopefully I will receive excellent advice.

Hi
Swelling of the legs (oedema) is quite common in the latter stages of pregnancy - particularly in warm weather. Oils that I have found helpful to reduce oedema are Geranium and Rosemary with some lemon to tone sluggish circulation.
Rosemary is ok in late pregnancy - Caution - should be used if blood pressure is high. At this stage your friend will be having regular check ups - and will know BP from her records - if not she should check this out first with the medical staff.
I suggest a low percentage - 1% i.e. for every 5 mls 1 drop of essential oil.
Massage of the legs should help (ensure she has not got varicosity of veins first - if she has a light effleurage will help, but no deep pressure). Also it is helpful if your friend puts her feet up frequently with a pillow beneath them.
