Herbalism course - not too intense
Question:

Have awakened my interest in herbs, which I've had since I was six. I would love to learn more about what is in our hedgerows, fields, etc, and how to use them, but I don't want to have to study to for 4 years to do a clinical herbalism course. I would like to feel enough confidence in identifying flowers, plants and trees and how to harvest them to use. I would like to be able to grow my own and have a stillroom, etc.
I have been dipping my toe in this field for a number of years, and feel happy enough making bath teas, oils enhanced with botancials, etc, etc, but want to go that one step further.
Any advice greatly received.

Hi Daisy,
I don't know wherabouts you are in the country, but I did an introductory herbalism course at my local Neal's Yard Remedies. It lasted a couple of months (once a week for a few hours) and included 2 nature walks where our wonderful herbalist pointed out all sorts of wonderful herbs. During the class at the store, we made our own cleavers tincture, got to see/feel all the herbs we were learning about. I think we covered 20. It was amazing. Have a look at their website www.nealsyardremedies.com , but I recommend ringing your local shop because they'll have courses running that aren't mentioned there.
Good luck, let me know you get on,
