Hi everyone,
I'd really like to build on my therapies and feel very interested in Reiki.
I have a few concerns that I'd really appreciate your advice on.
Out of all the good things that come from Reiki,what are the negatives? I have read and heard stories of people who see awful images and hear voices from Spiritual guides. I am slightly apprenhensive of taking a step into Reiki because of feeling fearfull of the unknown. ???? I would't like to feel like I am going insane!
Also, if I do decide to take the step towards Reiki...... I have found someone who runs a one day course in Reiki - does this appear long enough? Elsewhere this course tends to run over a 2 day period.

Hi TherapySu[/align][/align]Energy healing modalities are not in reality therapies in the truer sense of the word, they are spiritual practices that work on an energy level. [/align][/align]That is why people who practice them often get the insights that you are referring to, we are actually merging with the consciousness of the people we heal and sometimes need to get information about things to be able to start the changes necessary to instigate the healing process.[/align][/align]Most energy connections take about 30 minute to complete, beyond that you need to receive enough information to start you healing, then you may have to learn to heal depending on the modality you choose to learn.[/align][/align]With Western Reiki there is not much to learn as it is a pre-programmed modality, you get the symbols placed in your energy matrix and are shown a set of routines of placing your hand around the body and there you go, in the master level you are shown how to attune others with another routine and everything is done, so it depends on how quickly you can learn the routine as to how long it is going to take you to learn it.[/align]

Try to relax about Reiki, there is nothing to be scared of. Yes regular self healing and use of Reiki will raise your awareness, but I would pay no heed to whatever scare stories you may have heard, each persons journey and experiences are individual to the person.
I have heard all sorts of scare stories about Reiki and to be honest most of them have come from people with little or no knowledge of Reiki. They are something like legends or myths that get passed around by people who know no better or by those deliberatley trying to discredit Reiki.
I agree that it is totally possible to learn Reiki level 1 or Shoden in one day, however, my advice to you would be to contact a few different Reiki Masters and take a look at what they are all offering before you decide what would be the best course for you. Follow your intuition when choosing a master and a course and you won't go far wrong.

Just thought I would add, most of the learning with Reiki takes place after the course, when you are self healing daily and using the energies to treat others. Much the same way as you don't learn to drive until you have passed your test.
I am going to do the Reiki level 1 training in one day with reiki evolution (teacher: targgart).
But it is actually more than a day's work because I have received a book and cds and it represents 9 hours of serious work on my own (basically knowing the inside out of he whole book is essential). This needs to be done before going for the one day Level 1 training.
They laso do not take more than 4 students at a time: a sign that their have integrity with their teaching.
I have read really good comments on this forum about this course, so I hope I shall come back from it satisfied...
