Decisions, decisions!
Question:

I have the opportunity to do the two year diploma course with an ACHO school and I would love to. The course tutor is lovely, I've met current and past students who were great and I really feel it's for me. However, there's a 'but'! My family think I'm mad, that it's a waste of time and money, and all of this stuffis new age babble. They won't say it but I get the feeling they'd like to tell me to 'go and get a proper job - teacher, lawyer, nurse, just something normal'.
I suppose what I'm asking is if anyone else has been in the same position and what they did! Thoughts, comments and any words of wisdom would be much appreciated!

Hi Luna, The best advice I can give you is to trust yourself. You can't do things to please others if ultimately you will be unhappy doing them. In your heart you already know what you would love to do.
Crystals are very powerful, and are very beneficial to healing, as the subtle energies of them work with our bodies energy fields. There is nothing New Age about crystals, it is just given that title because it 'appears' fairly new, but the truth is, they have been used for thousands of years by native americans and those that understood the secrets of Mother Earth.
Crystals are going to play a big part in our future, and they are going to help us heal.
Trust yourself, and believe in yourself and do what makes you happy.

If it is a part-time course, why not appease some of your critics by doing a part-time, so-called'normal' job which will also help to fund your studies and stop their muttering!

Ultimately, it is your life and your decision, you must do what you know is right for you without taking any notice of what your family may think about it. We obviously have strong emotional bonds with our family but should not allow these bonds to limit us in any way.
You say your family have not said anything to you about it, as they have not said anything, I would just continue along your path as you are. If they do say anything to you, say that you are doing what you know is right for you. Our families sometimes lay their expectations on us and hope that we will do something that corresponds to their own unfulfilled desires and dreams, however, I don't believe our families know what is best for us any mors than a stranger you met in the street would.
Always be true to yourself and you won't go far wrong.

Hi Luna,
I can understand your worries, having been in the same situation myself.
If the crystal healing course is what you really feel drawn to doing- do it! If the feeling is strong enough then you don't need to worry and try tofind reasons or rationalise to other people why you're spending the money and time doing it. You know, plenty of people go to university and do degrees in things that aren't necessarily practical or don't have any career prospects...so it's really all their baggage if they're worried that the course isn't good enough andyou're wasting your talent and ability!
The only thing I would say, is that it's worth being realistic about doing itasa profession.I know plenty of people that are self employed in this area and it's quite unlikely that you'd be able to make a living just from crystal healing- everyone that I know has to supplement their earnings with a part time job, or even keep their full time job and just do therapies in the evenings to start off with. Jabba makes a good suggestion in that if it's a part time course a little job running alongside it would be ideal, and of course it will help pay off your course.
Otherwise...good luck!

Oh yes, it sounds familiar :).
To be honest, I just went ahead and did whatever I felt drawn to do. Sometimes, it's alright to be a little selfish and think of ourselves in these situations.
It's your life.........if it's what you feel you're meant to do, then follow your heart.
Good luck!

DO IT!

I once caved in and fell in with family plans or thoughts,it went pear shaped, and then they all said well you shouldn't have listened!!
Follow your gut feelings and go for it, it isn't being selfish, you have only one bite at this apple, so go for it.
As Fadette said DO IT,

Hi everyone
Let me comment upon this thread.
Follow what your heart is telling you, family like to apply pressure, when they feel they are doing the wrong thing, this is ok as they love you and want the best from you. Yet they are looking at it from their perspective not yours.
So go with your gut on this matter, and follow your dreams. If it makes you happy then it wil be put across to your family that you are:)

Thank you all so much for your words of wisdom. It's been lovely to read your kind and encouraging posts as it is a bit of a lonely time for me making this big decision.
Azalia, I had to laugh when I read your post as I have a totally useless degree which I paid a lot to do! At least crystal healing is vocational!
I dowsed for whether I should do this particularcourseand got a resounding 'yes'. Ever cautious, I'm going to go to see the tutor for a healing session before putting in my application. I will let you know what happens and thanks again!

Luna,
Best of luck with your course - I'm sure you'll love it!!! I felt like I had "come home" when I did my course.:D Well I graduated 6 years ago & haven't looked back since! I used to be a software engineer & my family thought I had lost the plot when I quit my job to be a full time therapist....but their attitude has since changed because they can see I'm not a mega stress head anymore & love what I do :D.
So well done you for following your instincts & not letting people who care about you & have your best interests at heart put you off - I know how hard it is to do that!
Do let us know how you get on with your course...
Love & light

Hi Luna, I feel today as you felt on your first post here. Not sure whether to do it, is it a waste of money etc.
I have always been a jack of all trades master of nothing, albeit when I do something I do it well (lol self praise and all that [&:]). I have never really been happy in any job and feel that at least I would be happy and make new like minded friends. I am still titering. 10 years of being stuck at home has left me a bit brain dead and I really need to find my path.
Good luck with your course Luna and I hope you find fulfillment in your new career.;)

Hi Lesley
The advice and support of kind HP people has been so helpful to me. I know I'm doing the right thing for me. If it is what you really want to do, go for it!
I've also been at home for a number of years so I understand how you feel. It means that we're highly organised and motivated individuals you know!
I wish you luck in finding your path. You will find it, I can promise that. Sometimes the path is just hidden by leaves and takes a while to find, or for it to find us.:)

Hi Luna
I found your post really interesting because I've just been going through the same dilemma myself. I've been looking at doing the VHF crystal healing diploma but have a lot going against the idea...my heart is totally set on doing it but there's always other people's opinions to be considered. In your case I'm really pleased that you have decided to follow your heart, and I wish you all the best with it :)Unfortunately for me, there are practical reasons which mean that other people's opinions that I shouldn't do the course at the moment are probably right :(I suppose the time will come when things are more ideal to make a start, but right now just doesn't seem to be the time, no matter how much I want it.
You'll no doubt find that other people's opinions are based on lack of experience and perhaps ignorance, and once they experience your healing skills they'll be glad you took the plunge! I have heard a lot of people say that it's difficult to make a full-time living from crystal healing, but I think if your heart is pulling you that much towards it, then it can only be the right thing to do.
Good luck!! [8D]ps. sorry if i'm not making sense, i'm trying to do too many things at the same time so i'm not 100% on the task!!! :D
