Can you identify these crystals?
Question:

Hi,
I bought a box of crystals the other day, some of which I can identify but theres 11 that I cant.
I have taken a pic of them to see if any of you can help, sorry but the pic quality is pretty rubbish but any ideas would be great.
Thank you! :)

Honey
I'm really surprised that none of the crystal people have jumped at the chance to identify your stones!
I'm by no means an expert but No. 1 looks like obsidian to me. And could No. 11 be carnelian?
Anyway, at least this post will move your question back up to the top of 'Today's Posts' so someone more qualified than I may notice it and come to your aid!

Hi Honey
The picture quality is a little confusing but here goes
1) Apache Tears/Obsidian or Labradorite
2) Not sure but looks like agate or blue lace agate
3) Pale Amerthyst
4) Could be Jade
5) Could be blue lace or sodalite although sodalite is much darker usually
6) snowy agate....the light reflecting on this one is not so good
7) I think rhodacyrosite (spelling not good either)
8) Maybe Citrine
9) Jasper maybe
10) Not sure I have seen this one although it almost looks dyed
11) Carnelian
Any advances on those guesses
Best wishes and have fun
Kay

Hi honeyuk,
Hope this helps. Usually quite good at this would be good if you could get some better pictures.
1. Obsidian
2. Possibly thulite ( does this appear as purpuly, pink with green)
3. Def pale amethyst
4.Looks like bowenite which is very similar to jade
5. Not sure on this one does look like a pale lapis that I have does it have any pyrite( gold) flashes in it?
6. Citrine
7 & 10. Red jasper
8 & 11. Carnelian
9. Not sure again not a great picture could possibly be yellow agate.

Hi all, :)
Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.
Suew, #2 is grey with speckly bits of brown and a tiny bit of white, #5 doesnt have any gold on it, it actually DOES have exactly the same markings as sodalite as Kcamiss suggested but is a paler blue.
#1 is really confusing me between Black Tourmaline and Black Obsidian!
Thanks again all! :)

Lots of ideas, My view is..
1.) Obsidian, (Tourmaline is rarely tumbled now)
2.) Labradorite
3.) Lavender Amethyst, possibly Mauve Flourite though
4.) Green Cats Eye, its too bright for jade or Bowenite, it looks dyed
5.) Sodalite
6.) Moonstone
7.) Red Jasper
8.) Marmalade Carnelian
9.) Yellow Serpentine
10.) Red Jasper
11.) Carnelian

I know it sounds kinda cruel but there are usually 3 or 4 different qualities of tumblestones available, and not all those in the shops are typical of the pics we see in books, so expensive Sodalite would be a really deep indigo blue, poorer qualities have more white Lazurite in. Like with Lapis, the top quality has a lot of gold pyrite but lesser qualites have very little and small flecks that may need an eye glass to see them, with Labradorite, there will be only a few flashes compared to first quality that will flash gold or green and blue.
Doesn't mean the stones are any less beautiful or powerful though, just that they don't match the standards exactly :)
