nhs abandon alternative medicine
Question:

NHS are to abandon alternative medicine.
With regards to reflexology it says "no good evidence of effectiveness".
Yet most reflexology books say nurses are taking up reflexology!
Do you think this will have an impact on the public and put them off?
I've just registered to do a 9 month course which is quite expensive.

Hi Deb,
Have a read of this link about what they want to do.
To be honest I don't think you need to worry too much, just a group of doctors complaining about the lack of 'scientific' evidence!

Hi Deb,
Please dont let this put you off doing your course. You will find it very rewarding and overall a great career move (i did!)
You will find that most people don't tend to listen to reposrts such as this if they have tried something which works for them. I do believe that the future lies with complementary and alternative medicine and therapies, becuase nobody really knows how long the human race can survive while pumping manufactured drugs, artificial foods into their bodies and living a generally unhealthy lifestyle.
Very soon the world is going to seriously look at alternative ways of creating energy etc, so i feel that the same can be said of medicine.
More research should be done on the subjects on alternative and complementary medicine.
Why do humans feel that we need hard evidence to prove that something works?.....sometimes they just do and can't be explained......why can't people just accept that?
