Case study dilemma !
Question:

Dear foot folks,I have a case study dilemma! She has had hip and leg pain for some time but has not been to the doctor, nor seems to want to.When it comes to researching the presenting condition for the case study, as well asorthodox approaches, treatment etc, I'm stuck. Since nothing has been diagnosed, how do I know what to research? Obviously as Reflexologists we are not qualified to doagnose, so Iamnot in a position todecide for myself. It's a bit of a paradox.Have any of you come across the same dilemma, and if so, what did you do? Or, what do you think I should do?Hope someone can help, thanks.Loopy x

Hi Loopy!
I am probably not the best person to be advising you, as I am relatively new to the business myself, so I can only tell you what I would do in this circumstance.
If I have no history to go by, and remember clients often forget to tell you everything anyway, I would treat the feet, and see what I find. You can only work with what you find on the feet, and if nothing comes up for the hip and leg, look to other joints. It could be posture, or the way she walks, or knee problems, or back problems. We can not diagnose, you are right, and we can't say why certain aches and pains are caused. You have her feet to work with, and you can only use the information they give you to help.
Reading this back, I haven't been very helpful, but you might find that the reflexology helps without finding any areas at all!!
Good luck!

Hi Loopy,
TJ's right .....you can only work with what you've got. Noting in the case study write up that she has complained of this pain but sought no help or advice from her G.P. and also what you've found at the time of treatment. It would bee a good idea also to note that you've recommended that she go and see he G.P. for further investigation.
You say you have to investigate each condition presented and orthodox treatments etc with each case study !! What happens if you have a case study who justs wants to experience Reflexology for relaxation purposes and has no real problems ??? Or is that not allowed ??
