Question:
I hope i have put this in the right place.
i have to see a psychiatrist in a couple of months, the reason being is my ex husband was violent to myself and my children.
3 years after the last episode, it was so bad i left him, he still says to this day he cant remember what happened..
because he is seeing our son in a contact centre, but wants contact at some point with no supervision. the court made an order for him to see a psychiatrist, to see if he has mental problems..i told my solicitor that i would go to as i have nothing to hide..
what would happen, do i have to lie on a couch, what type of things would they ask, im just a little bit worried they will think im a nutter being psychic. hope you can put my mind at rest.

I'm sure if you prefer lying on a couch they may have one you can use, but you'll probably just sit down and talk. I would guess they would just talk to you about general things, including why you are there, your situation, what you think about it etc. just to see if you fit what they consider to be "normal" or whether there is something a little "odd" about you. I'm sure you'll have nothing to worry about. Just think of it the same as going to speak to one of your kids teachers that you've never met before, be polite and sociable. They aren't there to do anything bad against you.
