Green Tea for Detox?
Question:

Hi there,
I used to drink a lot of coffee, but GP advised to drink tea, herbal teas and epecially green tea..
I have bought some from local supermarket, but they still have caffeine...
Can anyone confirm the benefits, and what varieties.brands are best..Do you just take at night?

Hi Webstar,
I was just on the way to bed so will have more time to post tomorrow evening/Friday morning. I like jasmine tea personally (green tea with jasmine flowers) 'cos I don't like the taste of green tea on its own, but I wouldn't take it at night due to the caffeine in it - I don't know what the levels are but it wouldn't do your sleep patterns that much good.
There are loads of anti-oxidents in it, though. Do a Google search and you'll find loads of info about it.
Take care,

Hi
Yes Green and White teas do have caffiene in them If you are looking for caffeine free teas then herbal ones such as peppermint, nettle, chammomile and many others would be suitable. I drink Clipper teas as they are organic and quite inexpensive.
A little bit more expensive are Pukka teas, they do some nice mixed teas such as peppermint, liquorice and rose, detox blends, revitalising blends etc. You would have to check the label though as some of them do have green tea in.

Green Tea is VERY good for your body but many of my asian friends tell me most green teas found in supermarkets are total CRAP. The best green tea is grown high in the mountains (the higher the better) so if you look for any tea make sure it's grown high in the mountains, not just "in the mountains" because that might mean just at the foot of the mountain. The best brand I would recommend is Ceylon High-Mountain Grown, they have different types as well as caffeine free but they're very hard to find. I've only found them at a local grocery store, but you can check out their website too http://www.ceylon-tea.com/
