A visit to a UK Crystal collection?
Question:

hello all crystal lovers,
I have an idea: what about uniting and going to visit to one of the very special places for crystals, in the UK?
I don't know where you all live, but here is my suggestion:
- Natural History Museum, London, Earth, Mineralogy.
- Oxford Natural History Museum
Of course there are brilliant places elsewhere, like the Paris Natural History museum where smoky rock crystals are larger than you and twice as high as you, and you can kiss them if you wish!
Tell me what you think of this idea: a visit and a chat afterwards in a cafe..?

Just found this post...sounds to me like a great idea!!!!! I would be interested

Well, how strange that you should post this. I am off to Paris in August and I had no idea about the crystals there. Guess where I am going to visit when I am there then. ;)

Antari!!
Do not miss the Natural History Museum collection (Go downstairs: quite stuffy room but precious colourful things). Also: the Marie Curie Mineralogy collection (if I remember it right...), that struck me even more. I am not sure if we can take pics, I want to go back soon and take pictures for my little archives. The crystals in that second "museum" (it is a very small museum) are quite small, but my god, amazing: I remember just colours and crazy shapes. I came out thinking "that's it I am going to create my own crystals!" (well, I went on to make ceramics).
Do you speak French?
Oh, I would love to be the guide of a crystal fans group one day!
For the meeting in London or Oxford: I am so happy we may be 3 already.
So who is coming? and where? and when?

Answers:

I know I'm new to this forum, but I'd be interested in meeting up in either location with other crystal interested people.

Just wondered if this had ever happened in the end? I never realised the Natural History Museum had crystal things...I'd be interested if anyone arranges anything :)

well,I agree 100%: I prefer Oxford, less busy.
but I assume the NHM in London has a bigger/more excitingcollection than the one in Oxford...
What do you think?
