can someone help?
Question:

I have nearly my last lesson on acupressure ect and I am confused at a few questions and wonder if anyone can help or give me any guidance with them, I do apolgise for being a damn pest but you have all been so helpful in the past.
My problems are as listed below
One question requires me to give a conventional theory which might explain how acupuncture can work in managment of painful conditions?
Does anyone know a good web site or can help me word this without being too long winded........I know there has to be a simple way to explain the above question.
Another is Would a high level laser be useful in acupuncutre for treating resistant cases? explain your answer?
Thing is on this one the only information I can muster on this is all to do with the low level laser I have searched and searched and cant find anything to back up any ifo at all about high level laser effects ect..........
The other one was, what is the principle by which electrical point locators work?
I have started to answer this and wondered if anyone can read over my answer and pass comment as to wether they think its well explained and makes sense and matches with the question.
The body continually generates tiny but detectable electrical discharges. This electrical field influences the growth, manipulation and function of some types of cells. It is know that acupuncture points are concentrated in regions of low energy resistance. This electrical theory of acpuncture suggests that acupuncture works by influencing the bodys electromagnetic fields and acupuncture points have certain electrical properties and stimulating these points alters chemical neurotransmitters in the body.
I do hope someone can help me this has been a drive you crazy as info is hard to find........... thanks again in advance :)

Hi Vmaxchick,
I will try to give you a short answer to your 1st question (the other questions i don't know).
In a nutshelf, in traditional Chinese medicine pain is defined as blocages of the Qi along the meridians. (I don't don't how mmuch you know about meridians... so I will explain a bit). You have 12 organ related meridians (heart / small instestine, stomach / spleen, lung/large intestine. kidneys/bladder, liver/gall bladder, pericardium / triple warmer) + governing and central meridian. Energy is going and moving along those meridians or pathways. If there is a blocage within a meridian the acupuncturist will try to remove the bloacage and ease the pain. Also yur therapist should have a strong knowledge on the 5 elements (fire, earth, metal, water, wood) how there promote and control each other. IE large intestine and lungs are connected so regulating one can help the other.
In addition an acupuncturist can also have a good knowledge of body work. In TCM diagnosis is important: pulse, tongue, posture, tiredness, urine color..... the list is endless. your acupuncturist collects information from you to prepare an appropriate treament protocol using needles, herb and massage to remove blocages and for example heat or damp conditions from your body.
Have a look at http://www.tcmstudent.com/,
Hope this helps
