I know its a boring title but.....Insurance
Question:

Hello HP, wow its been a long time since I have been here! I just need a tiny peice of advice! I think I need to get insurance, I practice in a project where I am covered by there's but if I do reiki outside I am not. Do you think its beneficial to joining an association that will include insurance, or just to get it individually?? Also what is your experiance of joining associations - how does it help you?
Thanks guys,
Nev

Hi Nev
When I did my Reiki 2 I was given S M G Insurance (Professional Liability) Tel Uk 0113 2944000 as an insurance contact. I can't tell you what they are like as I have never used them myself as I only give Reiki treatments to family and friends at no cost I didn't see the point

Hiya Nev.
I'm new to this forum too but may have a solution regarding Insurance.
It is becoming more and more important to have insurance cover these days and have found only 2 companies that will cove us Reiki people, but that cost can be very high.
I recently joined The White Rose Foundation. The Foundation will supply Insurance with membership for only £28.00 a year. The cover is excellent, I've checked it out, and will cover you anywhere in the UK whether in your home, clients home or a practice.
Just phone and ask for a membership package. You don't have to be trained by them. All they ask is for two recent photos(for your ID card) and a photo copy of your Reiki certificate, and of course a cheque for the required amount.
So, the contact is:- Mr Leslie Harvey, The White Rose Foundation, 'Charisma'
Frances Avenue, Maidenhead. Berks. SL6 8NX.
01628 625603
I hope this will be of some help. If you have any problems, e-mail me.

Templar - thanks for that info. I have insurance with Beauty Direct as a Reiki Practitioner but at £40+ it can't compare with The White Rose Foundation.

Hiya all again.
Just to add a little more to my last post re The White Rose Foundation.
The guy who founded it has worked really hard to get Healing recognised as a very real Profession. Like it or not, when the UK becomes part of the United States of Europe, The White Rose Foundation will become one of the few that will be noted as an 'official' body for Healers. Now, a lot of folk will say 'oh no, that will mean rules and regulations etc'. None of the White Rose literature demands anything but what most of us know as commonsence guidelines, so there shouldn't be any problems there. The White Rose run lots of different courses for those that may have an interest. Though no-one has to take any of these courses to qualify for membership. The White Rose often has open days for those of like mind to gather together should they wish to.
If anyone has any questions about the Foundation before they consider joining, just drop me a line and I'll do my best to answer.
Love and Light to all.

You can organise insurance through the UKRF - does anyone know if this is a good deal?

Answers:

Hiya.
Who are UKRF? Got a link?

Answers:

Hi again.
I think I was thrown by the use of the UKRF bit. The Reiki Fed use H & L Balen for their insurance needs. I actually had a quote from this company and it worked out at £98.00 per year (ouch), very few limitations though, which was good. The quality of cover via White Rose was very good and for those healers who work on a donation basis only, the £28.00 asked by White Rose is very affordable and well within the reach of most.
Love and Light to you.

Hi all,
Templar, the White Rose Foundation sounds interesting.......I had to stop practicing as a crystal healer because the insurance was too high (with me only asking for donations)....do they cover other therapies too?

Answers:

Hi Imogena.
As far as I know yes, but I'll find out for sure for you.

Hiya once again Imogena.
I've had a look at my Insurance doc which states that it is cover for Healing. It doesn't seem to include other therapies I'm afraid, sorry.

Hi,
I just downloaded the White Rose brochure and, in the section marked "Exclusions:" it says "Any form of physical treatment except the Laying on of Hands, Reiki or Reflexology, is expressly excluded", so sorry, Imogena!
Of course, you could always do a Reiki course....
