Bagwa- Dance of Life and Death
Question:

A cousin of Tai Chi, Bagwa's twisting and wringing movement is the lymphsystems best friend squeezing out the poison waste in the body as you walk the cirrcle path seeking to balance oneself with the universe. From mysterious origins it is believed to come from mountain taoist shamans and eventually emerged about 250 years ago to be usedby bodygaurds of the royal family for protection.

HI,
I know about Bagua Zhang. Like Tai-Chi, it has it's martial art application. This is why it was used by bodyguards. It was created on a mountain called "Emei", thus that tradition fo "Emei Bagua Zhang", and as others picked it up, so efficient it is, it became the Bagua Zhang and Bagua Chi-Gong of a few other places.
The Bagua Chi-Gong dance is based on the concept of the 8 main transformations. There is a lot of twisting and thwiling, doing normal and reversed breating while you develop balance, flexibility of the spine and inner organs, ... i realy love it. It did not thing i would ever come across someone who even know about this. This is rare stuff we're talkin here.

I enjoy it also, the physical manifestation of the

I had a go at Bagwa once. Bloomin' tricky on the footwork, but I got the basics after about 20 minutes. Looks great when someone who knows what they're doing does it.

I've never studied bagua however J've done many evercises like walking oposite a partner in a circle with your mind fixed on a stationry object eg. chair in the centre, which is bagua!!!!! what interested me more was telecino's mension of the emai mountain.
I studied tai chi for many years under the lineage of Dr shen Hongxun, part of the warm up was "The 5 Daoyin of the Emai Mountains" this was particually use to promote spontaneous movement then leading to Tai chi 37, suposedly a pure form of Tai chi where the chi actually moves the body with no muscular effort into the next postures( I never came anything like coming close to attaining this and to be honest the whole spontaneos movement thing is contreversial but I did feel something!!!!) but anyway even now I use these 5 daoyin and this is the first time I've ever heard the Emai mopuntain mensioned.

I absolutely love Ba Gua Chi Kung.
I find it remarkably challenging, opening, strengthening and useful.
Even in the middle of the day just doing a movement or two a few times changes my phyisiology and I can proceed into the rest of the day really renewed. The last few days I was at my computer alot - too much - and then had to be in a car alot and then to sit for an appt. I found myself doing spontaneous Ba Gua movements because my body simply HAD to move under these constrained conditions. Most of the movements I desired were spiralic, and increased breathing..I then wanted to make sounds but ...saved that for later - didn't want to cause a scene (o:

Hello, i'm new here~
A little while ago I decided i wanted to get involved with some martial arts. I started off with researching different styles and forms, and eventually came across Bagwa. It really caught my attention, and since then i've been searching for more info about it.
I came across this thread while searching furiously for more information about Bagwa. I've read quite enought to know that i am really hyped up on investing my time and energy in this form of martial arts, however, i am completely lost at trying to find some school or teacher where i can learn Bagwa in my city. Does anyone know of a link to a site that could help point me in the right direction? I really want to learn, but i need to find a place to enroll in - Please, help me out!
Thanks!

i'm located in the cleveland area of ohio, 44122 area code zone. I guess some guy named "Ted Knecht" (the 'all around internal grand champion of 2003') lives and teaches near me... although i wouldn't be surprised to see what his rates may be..., since he's all super pro gold metal-ish.
