Question:
Hi
I am new to this site and hope that somebody can give me advice.
At the moment I am doing my VTCT Reflexology and in the middle of my case studies.
A few weeks ago I startedreflexology on a very good friend of mine.
After the the 2. treatment I fell ill with a high temperature, aching limbs, headache ect.
I thought it was the Flu and stayed in bed quite poorly for almost 3 days.
After the 3. treatment I again came down with all the flu symptoms, but still thought the flu might've come back as it was going round at the time.
I spoke to my tutor however, asking if there could be a connection to the reflexology treatments I am giving. My tutor advised me to ground and protect myself.
As I am a spiritual healer and my husband a reiki master ....we went through the grounding and protection together.
I gave my friend her 4. treatment and .......
yes, soon after she left I had breathing problems, a temperature of over 38C and felt worse then ever.
My tutor has no advise to give, as she has never come across this before and I am getting really down and frustrated.....
Is this something I am picking up from her, or am I as a therapist going through a healing crisis myself ???
My friend by the way feels fine and had no symptoms apart from thirst . She doesn't know about this, as I did not want to worry her.
I would be grateful for any advice
thank you

Hi MoSometimes when i have given a treatment i come away feeling like i've taken on some of the symptoms of the client i've been working on...i always find that a little bit strange. but i've never had so strong a reaction as you - i'm talking about gut ache when working on someone with bad IBS or shortness of breath when working on someone with Emphysema. I didn't get much advise from anyone on this but i did know from my training that this had happened to my teacher.I'm not sure what else to say but you're not alone.Did u get properly checked out by the doctor?Does this happen with any other clients?Could you have an allergy to foot products/creams which causes the symptoms?Hope you find some answers hunAlx x
Thanks for your reply, Alx
I have used the foot products on several clients and never had a reaction.
I do notice that I get very tiered when treating certain clients...and maybe that is because I am giving and not letting it flow. I'm still in the early stages so I have a lot to learn !!
