Question:
Can someone please tell me the routine they use for a mens facial - I would like to pamper hubby for his birthday ;)
Thank you
Love S xx
Hi. I've provided facials ona few men and found that there is no reason why the routine needs to change from that of a woman, the only things I would suggest is make sure that he is fresh shaven or else don't use cotton pads or cotton wool as this drags on the whiskers, leaving white wool residue behind making him look like Santa claus (I'm talking from experience!!!). Pressure on the psudo points is good, especially around the sinus and eye area (If you've done that).
Can you advise howI get a picture like you have and change my name, I didn't realise this was to be my actual name on here!!)
Cheers
Sonia
Hi Spiritalis,
As Sonia mentioned, you don't necessarily need to alter your routine but there are a few things you need to bear in mind with your cleansing and massage, for example. I've reprinted below some tips and a sampleroutine for a combination back and face treatmentthat I posted on here a few months ago -it's based on a treatment I offer at my men's salon, I hope you find it useful :)
Combination Back and Face Treatment
Allow 45 - 60 minutes
[ol][*]Cleanse back and shoulders with a water-based foaming cleanser, followed by an exfoliating scrub[*]Massage back, neck and shoulders (approx 20 minutes) - remove oil with a hot towel before proceeding to next step[*]Apply clay-based masque to back, cover with parathermic foil or plastic wrap to protect couch, then turn the client onto his back[*]Cleanse and scrub face[*]Face, neck andshoulder massage[*]Applyappropriate face masque and perform scalp, hand or foot massage whilstit gets to work[*]Remove face masque and apply moisturiser and eye cream. Sit client up to remove masque from back, thenwipe residue from the skin, and spritz with toner or an alcohol-free aftershave to finish[/ol]
Quick tips for male facial treatments:
[ul][*]Remove product from the forehead down, working in the direction of hair growth around the beard area[*]Your massage routine should have the emphasis on the downward strokes, again going in the direction of beard growth[*]Use sponges, hot towelsor mitts to remove product, not cotton wool pads as these get caught in stubble[*]Don't apply a clay masque over facial hair, but it's fine to cleanse and scrub over a tidy beard[*]The beard area is often a trouble spot for male clients due to shaving - a soothing masque for this area rather than a deep cleansing clay productis advisable if they experience irritation[/ul]
