Question:
Hi there
Just wondering if anyone has this system or had a treatment?
I worked with it about 7 years ago and now considering whether to buy it.

Hi wendy, I had a back, neck and shoulder Hydrotherm massage around September last year. It was very lovely, and was teamed with a specific ayurvedic oil blend (part of another 'system' of massage/products). On the morning of my appointment I had cricked my neck, but went along anyway (I'm a massage therapist too and realised it would still help my mobility), and it did indeed help.
I may have to go back though because I'm intrigued as to whether I'd prefer a Hydrotherm or a 'normal' boddy massage.
Hi RB
Thanks for getting back to me. I have until the end of the week before I decide what to do and so it's great to get some opinions.
Just wonder what you think to the effects of the warmth during your massage, the fact that you lie on your back throughout and also, what aboutthe 'wobbly' feeling because you're on a 'water-bed' as such? I know some of my friends/colleagues are dubious how they would feel during an hour's massage.
Sorry for all the questions. Personally, I love thesystem but, like most therapists, I'm grateful for any treatment :)
Hi Wendy,
Not a problem. It felt a little weird at first lying on the water bed thing. Back-wise I have a tendency to be tense at the base of the spine, and my bum sticks out (making me look like a duck :D) so I usually like a pillow under my knees. With the water-bed my back didn't feel too happy at first, like I was sticking out my bum even more. However, the heat was blissful and I soon got used ot it. I'm a soul who has tepid showers because I overheat (hot stone massage is also too much for me) but this was just lovely. It remains at a constant temperature - can't remember what that is now.
I was a bit dubious that the therapist's hands would slide around underneath me as well as the marketing blurb boasted, but it was effortless. I was trying to take mental notes as I relaxed, and I remember the effleurage at the start was: therapist standing facing my right side; hands slide in just above glutes then glide around the hip, running up the erector spinae and around the scapula. The heat and the technique together were lovely, and after my muscles started to relax due to the heat - which obviously happens quicker than a normal massage - as she massaged me, I did wobble about, but it was like my limbs were floating , if that makes sense; they were free to move about naturally, and it was extremely calming as well as liberating. At the time I had this massage I was going through a tough time emotionally, and it was just what I needed. In fact, after a strenuous couple of days, and coupled with your thread as a reminder, I'm thinking of booking another one for Friday if my local place can fit me in.
Hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, post again and I'll reply asap. I'm generally lurking on HP somewhere a few times every day :D
oh Goodness that sounds marvellous, Red Bess- I feel relaxed just reading that!
Hi Wendy - lovely to see you![sm=wave.gif]

Glad to have helped the relaxation process Sharon![sm=hippy.gif]
Thought I'd pop back to say that I managed to get an appointment for a back, neck and shoulder Hydrotherm this Friday afternoon. Really looking forward to it. Obviously I'll be relaxing but I'll try to remember the finer points this time.
Woo-hoo, I'm gonna be chilled out.... [8D]
After reading that, I'm pretty chilled out myself RB. Thank you!!
The massage routine that they teach with the system is lovely and I have to say that, they claim it's easier on the therapist and it is (from casting my mind back 7 years and seeing a demo last Sunday). Incidentally, I occasionally use some of the techniques in my Swedish massage routine.
So, I have until Friday to decide what to do!!! The price is extremely good (they say that it's a huge saving because it's at the special show price - don't know if that's the case but I don't think they can make those sort of claims legally?).
I have my reservations about how well it will sell during the warmer months?!
Anyway, thank you so much for your feedback RB and it will be good to hear how it goes on Friday.

Hi Sharon [sm=wave.gif]- nice to see you too! Off topic here but just to let you know that your YP recipe works EVERY time (sorry Mods, had to tell her that whilst I thought about it - it's my age;))
