Hi All,
I'm new here ~ and would be most grateful if you could point me in the right direction regarding patenting a new healing system/copyrighting also. It has been channelled to me, quite a while ago but now I feel I must act on this as soon as I can.....

Copyright arises automatically in the expression of an idea (e.g. if you describe your new 'system' in writing in a brochure or book), and doesn't need to be formally registered.
A patent, by contrast, requires formal registration. To register a patent, you need to apply to the UK Patent Office (assuming you're in the UK). You need to be very careful if you're considering doing this, because if you disclose your idea to anyone before registering, this counts as 'prior publication' of your idea, and will prevent it from obtaining successful registration.
You may want to start by having a look at the UK Patent Office website. Either that, or speak to a specialist (intellectual property) lawyer. And do it soon!

Are you saying then I can use the copyright symbol for my healing method without actually getting itcopyright?
Would I have to disclose my full healing methods to the patent office as I'm not sure I'd want to do this.
I can't seem to find the information on the Uk patent office website.

Yes you may just write the information and mark it 'copyright - your name 2006', you do not need to register this.
I can't give any advice about the patent, although I understand it can be quite a long and arduous process trying to get the patent on something (I may be wrong).
Do let us know about your new healing system when you have this sorted out.

...Although if it's a healing system you are wanting to 'make public'/patent whatever, then you might want to get the system trademarked rather than copyrighted?
Just because it is registered in one country does not mean that it is registered worldwide each country is an extra cost and it can go into fortunes. Intellectual property rights is a very expensive business. With copyright it is important that it is dated and you can do this by sending a sealed copy that is held by your bank. The bank do not open the envelope and it is covered by the postage date this is probably one of the simplest, easiest, cheapest and fastest methods.
Did Spirit specifically ask you to patent the therapy? Or is this human will?

Hi Scarlet[/align][/align]Not sure if you could patent a way of healing as it would have to be a completely original way of doing something, a patent would effectively stop anyone else from using the that way of doing it.[/align][/align]Although there are a lot of new energy connections coming on line, the way we work with the different energy modalities is similar in most systems, it is only the energy connection that is different.[/align][/align]If you think of it like connecting to the internet, if you come up with a revolutionary new way of connection people to the internet then you can patentthe newmachinery involved so no one can copy your design but you cannot at the same time patent the information that people will use your system to look at.[/align][/align]With an energy modalitythere is a further problem as we do notown the energy we work with, even our own energy which has it own unique signature is a part of the energy oneness.[/align][/align]As for copyright I am having problems at the moment with someone in New Zealand who has used one of my energy working website pages without my consent and has not had the decency to put my name to my work.[/align][/align]You can trademark a name and the usage of that name in connection with energy work but again I think you will have problems getting a worldwide trademark.[/align]
Divine Love ~ my husband suggested this method with the bank but didn't know how secure a way it would be.
The higher forces didn't directly tell me to patent the idea, it's my 'earthliness' and intuition that did.
The other thing is that although it has been channelled to/through me, I don't have a name for it! I don't know where to start and don't know how I would avoid choosing the name, or looking to spirit for it that was the same as anyone else's system. I would also love to give attunements, these may be free of charge, I don't know as yet so how would I go on to do this?

Why don't you ask Spirit for a name? They have given you the process so why not a name/ When my daughter wrote her first book, Spirit gave her the title and the title of the next two books.

I would choose a name for it (ask for guidance and hopefully a name will just drop in)
Then when you have a name write some blurb about it post this to yourself - get a certificate of posting with the description of the healing stamped at the post office.
I have heard of other healers copywriting their mode of healing - I'm ambivalent about this - but appreciate people should be acknowledged for what they bring through into manifestation.

But if youtrademark, for example, "Newand Better Reflexology®", it's only the text that gets trademarked and not the system, isn't it?
And as Divine Love says, it has to be registered in many countries.
How much does it cost to get a trademark registered? Does anyone know?
