Question:
I give a vote for Tai Chi Chuan Textbook by Chen Pan Ling it covers just about everything I can think of, although it is not based on a popular form it has many postures included. It is also a bit pricey but well worth it and can be found on amazon or
for ~ $50. us. Any votes for other Tai Chi work books?
Will have to check this book out.
I am reading "Tai Chi Theory and Martial Power" by Dr Yang Jwing Ming. Certainly interesting from a martial arts perspective.
My mentor Ron Carusoe recommended for new students, T.T. Liang's Tai Chi Chuan for Health and Self Defensealso Da Liu's Tai Chi Chuan and I Ching. He also mentioned a book by Mr. Galante but could not recall the title.
A book for intermediate students that has alot of research is " The Fundamentals of Tai Chi Chuan"
by Professor Wen Shan Huang.
The Galante book was probably 'Tai Chi the Supreme Ultimate' Originally published in 1983, but still in print. Once you stop laughing at the 80's clothing & hairstyles in the photos (then again, I was there), this is a really informative book. I have scribbled more pencilled notes into my copy of this book than any other in my collection.
Depends of course why you want a book. To learn a form or to understand the broader aspects of Tai Chi? if the former, best ask 'What's the Best Tai Chi Video/DVD' as you cannot learn the transitions between movements from a book (no matter how good the author)

I try to read widly, even if i dont understand all yet, i can just go back a clarify things on a later date. I'm cuurntly reding a book by master Liming Yue, its a hard back and cost £25, but its very persific as it is only realy relevent for the chen 18 style, but it does include some other great stuff.
