Hi there and welcome!
I can only speak to you of my experience in learning and teaching Reiki. Different people have different methods.
I find that most people (not all) teach Reiki in a relaxed and informal manner and environment. You will most probably receive a warm welcome from your Reiki master and be introduced to any other people taking the course with you. Your Reiki master will most probably ask if you have any questions or worries about the course. If you do, speak up, a lot of people are a bit apprehensive when they learn Reiki, I think it's the fear of the unknown.
You may then go on to learn a bit about Reiki, what it is, it's history, it's founder etc. During the say you may learn quite a lot about Reiki. This teaching may take an informal classroom style or a more interactive style. During the course of the day ( I do mine before lunch) you will receive some attunements. Some teachers give four for level I and some only give 1. Both are fine and will be effective.
The attunements are what most people are worried about. Please relax about this. All that will happen is you will sit in a chair with your hands in prayer position. You will sense your Reiki master moving around you and they will require you to move your hands at some stage, don't worry they will tell you before hand or they will move your hands for you. Different people feel different things during the arttunement, all these sensations are fine and normal. Occasionally, some people feel nothing, this is perfectly normal too. The most important thing is just to relax and enjoy the experience.
I have never met anybody yet who has not loved learning Reiki, it's a wonderful experience.
Hope this helps, and let us know how you get on.
All the best
Donna.
