Question:
Hi all,
I have hired a room to do my treatments from twice a week while still at college. This is within an osteopaths clinic.
I am working 12-8pm om a wed and 9-6pm on a saturday, i have had some price lists designed and printed and i am very pleased with them.
I have leafleted alot of them out already and have placed some with friends and family and in my local sun bed shop.
I have had some inquiries and out of say 600 maybe more leaflets only 2 clients have booked for tomorrow eve. I am really pleased to have the clients but i am kind of losing heart a little and would like any advice from anyone who has done the same sort of thing?
How long did it take to pick up? What did u do about advertising etc?
I am only 22 (23 in June) and as my first venture i am feeling a lil out of my depth!! I know i can do this but its just getting me to the point of success - HELP PLS!!
:D
Hi Vix,
Have faith and things will pick up! Your strongest marketing tool will be word of mouth. If the people you have coming to see you are pleased with what you do, they will recommend you to their friends and family and so on. You could always try an introductory offer to get people in the door eg. 25% off your first visit or book 4 sessions and get one half price or encourage those that have booked to recommend you to a friend and if that person books they get 25% of their own next treatment - you get the picture. Make sure you are listed in all of the free places on relevant websites and if you live in a smaller area with a community newsletter why not put a small advert in there with an introductory offer - it shouldn't cost much. You might already have tried all of this but if not give it a go.
You can't expect to have back to back bookings when you have just started out as it takes time for a business to grow so don't be hard on yourself - age is irrelevant if you have the enthusiasm and commitment.
Hang in there, let us know how it goes

Hi Vix,
Don't be disheartened, in my experience 2 bookings from 600 leaflets is pretty good. It takes a long time to get regular bookings.
Just concentrate on constantly applying the pressure with marketing and advertising, then make sure you keep the leads, repeat business is what you want.
Good LuckXX
Thanks guys - its really hard though!!
I have a few more bookings now but still losing more than im making plus i always seems to be delievering my price lists!!
i ordered 1500 from the printers and i have nearly used them all - in my area there are quite a few salons already so the competition is quite fierce!
im trying my best!!
thanks for all your kind words!! keep them coming it helps!! :D
We went out at the weekend - when we came back to the car - parked in a large carpark, there was a leaflet on the window.
what I hate is large company leaflets that have no interest to me whatsoever, but something local would definitely prompt me to keep the information and have a look later.
So it's something else to consider - car park dropping... all the cars are in one contained area so its not as time consuming as door dropping.
Yes - this is an option but how can i guarante that these ppl dont live miles away?
Also im sure if that gives the impression i would like for the salon?
This is so much harder than i though!! [&:]
Vix have you taken out an advertisment in your local paper? They may even do a half page feature on you as you are a new local business. This would really work.
Good luck!
I believe that the impression will be given by the quality and appearance of the leaflet, information on the leaflet and your location more than the fact its on someones windscreen - just my views :)
And the prices! Consider some 'opening offers' initially to attract new customers. Then slowly bump the price up :D
