Reflexes
Question:

Hi,
Im just looking through my Introductory Guide to Reflexology book by Louise Tucker regarding reflexes.
Can someone please explain to me why ileo-caecal valve is an associated reflex for a lot of respiratory problems. Also for varicose veins why work the intestines and liver ? I cant seem to see the connection on these ?
Jo

Answers:

Hi Jo
The ilio Cecal valve stops digested matter from moving backwards from the lower intestine to the small intestine but it also regulates mucus production in the body so working it helps to relieve mucus congestion in the respiratory tract. Great point to work for yourself on your hands if you have a cold. Better than any decongestant!
You'd work the liver and small intestine reflexes for varicose veins to stimulate the portal circulation part of the circulatory system and thus boost the circulatory system in general particularly the legs where you'd get varicose veins.
Hope this helps
