Hello Jazelle,
I am a Reiki practitioner& Feng Shui consultant and also practise a few other therapies etc. It's lovely to think that a thirteen year old is interested in Reiki. Personally, I cannot see any harm in her interest. Do you have interest in Reiki yourself? Perhaps you could go along to a Reiki exchange group to see what it's all about. I have been to local groups here in Stockport where young people have participated in energy healing and meditations etc. I feel they have a wonderful input to the evening.

There is no reason why your daughter should not learn reiki ..AS LONG AS..and this is very important ....it is her OWN decision. Like louise asks do you have any reiki experience..if not it's no problem. However, find out what you can, find someone you feel comfortable and happy with, but I do believe the right Master will make themselves known to you in one way or another. Let her take her time and accompany her as she is under 18. Personally, as long as it is the child requesting I am all for kids learning and being attuned to the energy. Besides they usually have a lot less barriers than us mere mortal adults do!

It would be good for her and help her with her periods if she is emotionally stable. Important that you attend the training course with your daughter as she is under 18, a good RM would offer this service free to you if you are already attuned to Reiki.

Hi,
as another Mum of a Reiki interested child I thought I could share my experience!
My youngest daughter was 7 when I did Level one and for a whole year she badgered me that she wanted to do what I did. I kept telling her she was too young and that she had to be a grown up to do it ( this was 10 yrs ago). Anyhow, we bumped into my RM at a MBS in London who took one look at her and asked if she was my child? I said yes and that she had kept asking to learn Reiki and I had been telling her she was too young. My RM said that a year ago they would have felt the same but in the last 6 months had been approached by other parents with children who wanted to learn, and after meditatiing had decided to run children courses of Reiki!!. The following week my daughter had done Level One and I was allowed to stay and watch what they did and the Attunement ( which was absolutely beautiful) along with 4 other children aged 8-13 yrs.
When she was 14yrs old she felt ready for Level Two. This was with another RM and she told me that during her Attunement Reiki guides had told her that they were going to step back for now and allow her to lead a normal teenage life, but they would always be there when she needed them. My daughter is a lovely, gentle soul and a wonderful healer and has shared her gift with her friends since she was 8!
If your daughter is asking of her own free will then I would encourage her and be with her at this important step in her life. It could bring you two closer as she reaches those rebellious teenage years!

as has been said above, if she asks for it then take her to he master of choice, let her meet him/her with you and get a feel for the person, she must feel comfortable with the master.
yes it will help he to stay in control of her emotional ups and downs which can happen at 13 especially if she has started her periods, some kids go through the periods witha breeze and others get quite emotional as they are at an age where they want there own independance and are developing into a young woman
reiki will help her to become balanced and also if she gets the usual spotty outbreaks associated with teenage changes then reiki can help there also
i wish you luck with your search for a master. what area are you from ? you can search hp for masters , contact them and go to who you and your daughter feel drawn to

My daughter is 14 and will be taking Reiki I in May for her birthday. I see no harm in it, in fact I think its rather wonderful! :D
It took me 32 years to find Reiki and I think wow fancy starting so young imagine the journey you could take and the experiences you would have the chance to clock up starting that young, I wish :)
Reiki can do no harm. The only thing I would contemplate prior to a younger person learning Reiki is the same as I would wish of all Reiki adults... that they are mature enough to respect others as you have alot of responsibility to others when you learn Reiki, privacy, gaining permission etc. But if you think she is responsible enough then I would say go for it and just enjoy the journey.

hello
I had my two children initiated last year, theywere 7 and 9, and i am happy that they have their Reiki I. I have friends who have had their children initiated and they stopped practising Reiki for a while, but they came back to it and went further on their Reiki path, and have had their second initiation.
I hope that Reiki will be a lovely journey for my children, as it has been one for me.
As said above let her choose her Rm and go along with her, to me Reiki is something that can help children ( adults too !!) in their path of live.

Thankyou all very much for the replies.
My daughters have observed and know how Reiki has helped myself and friends. Some of wichhave been sceptical initially.
My oldest daughter (13) will on occasions ask for reiki healing for different things.
So she knows from her own experience that it works for her.
I will let her choose for herself her RM. That is good advice thankyou.
She is a very kind, caring , loving and sensible girl and I know she will get great pleasure in helping others and herself.
Thanks again.
