Question:
I have been asked by a potential client for an IHM treatment to help with her arthritis (not sure which type) because she had a full body massage in India which helped her. My training said not to treat spondylitis but did not mention other arthritic conditions. The arthritis is on her upper arms and shoulders. Can anyone advise please?
Hi Florence,
I treat an old gentleman (75) with arthiritis in his shoulders - I concentrate very much on his back, neck & shoulders and he raves about the treatments. Right after the treatment the pain is much less, mobility improves and it lasts for more than a week before it starts bothering him again.
I do the massage onto the skin and use arnica oil (he has a re-action to arnica gell) so maybe you want to try using oil (maybe start off with just a carrier oil such as jojoba and do a skin test before you use anything else) as it gives a much deeper masage.
Good luck - I'm sure it will only do your client well to have an IHM.
Thanks Jobelle. I did the treatment on saturday but it was a wee indian woman who didn't speak much english so I don't know if I helped her or not! I finished with some reiki on her shoulders, which were the most arthritic part, and she said thankyou very much at the end, so it can't have been too bad. I told her daughter about your reply which also gave me more confidence in doing the treatment, so thank you.
