green tea regular versus decaf
Question:

Hello folks!
I'm a bit stuck on my choice of tea.
As I can't drink caffeine (it stimulates my over-active thyroid) I was drinking decaf green tea for a long time.
Then I was told that decaf tea of any kind is bad for you, since the tea undergoes a harsh chemical process to strip it of caffeine. That must be why decaf green teain an organic form does not exist!!!
So, can anyone else shed light on this? What are your thoughts? Do you think it's true? And what about white tea? Does it come caffeine-free in it's natural form?Or does the same apply?
I'd ideally like to find a tea that has all the health benefits of green tea, but in an organic form, and without caffeine. Any suggestions?
Hope you can help! I'm getting thirsty..................
Thanks! :)

Hi
Have you tried Redbush/Rooibos tea? It's similar to black tea but is organic and caffeine free. It's sold in health food shops and I think Sainsburys sell it as well.

Matt Furey once claimed to have a source for natural green tea caffeine free.

I read somewhere - I think it was on the Andrew Weil site but can't be sure - that if youput the tea-bag in, add a small amount of hot water, leave it for a few minutes then throw away the water and fill up the mug with fresh hotwater, you can minimise the amount of caffeine. Apparently most of the caffeine floods out with the initial amount of hot water, so if you discard that water you get rid of most of the caffeine. Don't know if it works, though. But it might be an option for you.

Hi Tucker,
I do drink redbush tea already. But I don't think it as all the same antioxidants as green tea, and I think these would be good for my thyroid.
Watch this space.....
