Premature Labour Pains HELP!!!!
Question:

Hello Everyone!
Need some more help with this client thats only 6 months pregnant. She's gone from maybe having gestational diabetes ( so far the tests are ok) to having contractions. These aren't Braxton-Hicks. They are controlled with meds and she needs to be tested every 2 weeks to see what the likely hood is of her going into labour. I asked her to get her Dr.s approval for reflexology. Should I continue to work on her? If her body is ready to give birth, will giving her a session ,even if it is gentle, cause her more contractions? And if I do have a session with her should I be cautious in any areas? I don't know what to do. I have not had training in this area.
Any advice would be great.

No, this is one situation where Reflexology is contrindicated and she shouldn't have treatments unfortunately. If in doubt refer to Suzanne Enzer's Maternity Reflexology book.

Hiya,
Personally I wouldn't touch her at this time ~ we want that baby to cook for as long as possible !!
Some people will tell you that reflexology won't do any harm and even if you were to stimulate the endocrine & reproductive systems you couldn't bring on labour. Now whether or not that is true is not the point.....
If she did deliver this baby early ~ and the baby were to be poorly or worse .... Both you and your client would forever wonder if you did the right thing and what would have happened if you didn't give reflexology.
So please don't touch her till after the birth

Thanks Meridianmoon and Sarah,
My gut was telling me not to work on her,but it's so hard to go against your training. Thanks for giving me the confidenceI needed.
Soon as I am able to I am going to have to take Suzanne Enzers course when it comes around in the States.
