Question:
Hi
I am doing my Reiki 1 attunement on Saturday :D I really would like to make the most of this experience so.........is there anything I can do this week that will help / benefit the attunement (meditations / detox etc etc??)
Thanks for any info

Hi VickyYou do not need to do anything to prepare, everything is done for you ;)
Has your Reiki Master given you any guidelines? I have a sheet I send out to students a few days before an attunement, which basically is about healthy eating and living, gentle exercise, pleasant TV viewing etc -and I'm sure you do all of that anyway.
A bit of self-pampering does not come amiss either, if you're preparing for a special occasion - like a long warm scented bath, with music and candles if you wish, the day before.
Equally, Paul's comment is absolutely right ;)
Have a lovely day on Saturday, and let us know how you got on. :)
Laura.
Hi Vicky
Just collected the 'Reiki by Penelope Quest' book from the library about 20 mins ago, had a quick look to see if she mentions doing anything to prepare.
She states that a gentle detox may be helpful, cut out meat & fish for a few days before, unless organic meat, drink more water than usual as much as you can, try to eleminate caffine and alcohol, sweets and ... chocolate! Which does make me doubt her sanity to a certain degree, does she not realise that chocolate is a basic neccessity for women! ;)
Try not to smoke or cut down at least, avoid negative situations and activities such as watching violent, or fear inducing films, watching TV news, listening to loud music (wot no Planet Rock!) and reading newspapers.
Actively release any negative emotions such as anger, fear, jealousy or hatred (I have been doing this for the last 6 months with EFT), she suggests imagining the above feelings floating up to the universe in a bubble of light to be healed. I tried that way a few years ago it worked to a limited degree but nowhere new as effective as EFT (where did I leave my soapbox?) for such issues.
She also suggests meditation or taking quiet walks in the countryside to destress yourself.
I would do what feels right for you. Some of the above measures would add more stress than they would take away, for me anyway.
I will be having my 1st attunement (by distance) in the next couple of weeks and I have found my self wanting to drink more water and not drink as much coffee, without making an active decision to do so.
I really shocked myself this morning by not wanting my normal breakfast and having a strong desire for an apple and carrot smoothie. Which I had with the addition of a small amount of spirulina and chlorella (sp?) powder which I have been having in small amounts for a couple of months. Help - what is happening to me! Could have been the result of a strange experience that I had last night that I will put in a different post.
I am really excited for you and will be thinking of you on Sat.
Think we will have to start a new thread 'Epona Spirit and Moongold take on Reiki'. Should be interesting with you doing a course and me doing distance.
Love and blessings
Angie
Hi Vicky,
The only thing I would recommend, is to have a good nights sleep the night before. When I did my Reiki 1 I was so excited I couldn't sleep!
In my opinion, you don't need to do anything beforehand - changes within yourself will happen after the attunements. I personally don't think that what you do or don't eat beforehand will have any affect on your attunements whatsoever.
Have a great day :)

Hi there!
I agree with the others who say do nothing. I ask my students to come with an open mind and a willingness to work with this wonderful energy. As already mentioned any changes happen AFTER the attunement. I went off coffee overnight and haven't touched it in over 9 years!
Get a good night's rest so you are relaxed and happily anticipating your course. Good luck,
Love and light

I agree with the above, there is absolutely no need to do anything beforehand, unless you want to do something to help yourself.
One thing I would say though is stay away from drinking 20 pints the night before. You probably wouldn't feel too good on the day. :D
Love and Reiki Hugs
