christmas fayre
Question:

Hi I am planning to have a table at a Christmas fayre at the end of November. I would like to give short hand massage for a small price and was wondering if anyone has done this kind of thing before and how well it went. (I am also going to sell decorated christmas cake, another little side line of mine). What essential oils did you use and did you sell any blends.
Thanks

Hi there
A couple of weeks ago I did a talk and short demos in aromatherapy. I chose to do hand massage to try and get people involved and it went really well. I mixed up three pre-blends: uplifting blend -(mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon and orange), relax blend (rose, lavender and geranium)blend and a detox blend (juniper, lemongrass, grapefruit... and a couple of others I can't remember right now). I was not charging for the evening and because of this I only used the uplift blend for the demo as didn't want to use up all my rose oil! Obviously I let people smell the other blends and put a little on their hand if they wanted to. I did take along the rest of my e/oils but I didn't encourage people to open them as of course it deteriorates them, but if people asked me about a specific complaint etc. I would show them which oil I would use for it and let them smell it.
People really enjoyed the hand massage and were suprised how relaxing it was. One person said to me she would have preferred if she was facing away from the room of people rather than having people look at her. I wish I had made some pre-blends to sell as I had quite a few asking - particularly for the detox blend. I also had a few of my books on the table, tissues and plenty of towels... and of course my leaflets, business cards, gift vouchers and diary ;)
Hope this is helpful to you
I am sure it will be great :D

I have done this sort of thing at school fayres and am doing one next month on a stall at a Craft Fayre I am doing with my Mum and sister to raise money for the Lymphoma Association. I tend to ask for a donation for the school/charity etc and find that most people are generous. It also offers the treatment up to anyone even if they can't afford much. I usually put out some leaflets and factsheets so get the advertising that way and have had a couple of booking from them. I am also selling some of my own home made products too. I usually pre-blend 3 different blends for them to chose from usings oils that don't have contraindications and use Peach or Apricot Kernel oil as the carrier oil in case of any nut allergies.
Good luck whatever you choose to do. I have always really enjoyed these events and answering the questions people raise.

Hi Thanks for your replies.
I am going to make some soaps and a few pre-blended oils to sell too. Did you write a list of contratindications for the oils so clients could check before they buy? I use grapseed oil and almond oil ( with a noteof caution for allergy sufferers).
