Question:
I keep reading posts about people's experiencing all sorts of things during Reiki, seeing things, feeling things , the presence of guides etc..
i was wondering if this really has anything to do with Reiki or if the same people would have the experiences if they werent giving/receiving Reiki.
What do you think?
Hi Soar,
They might.
It is their awakening to their awareness of their connection with the Universal Energy, embodied in the Reiki lessons, that is making these occurrences more apparent to them.
If they chose to slow down and meditate - without Reiki - or took a Spiritual healing/development type of course then they might develop the same awareness and sensitivity to the energies surrounding them.
There are always those few who are lucky enough to be aware of these sensations from their birth and continue to enjoy them.
It's not all reiki - but it helps;)
I agree with Paul. I think it is more one's expanded awareness of energy that Reiki itself.

Very interesting question. For me, Reiki opened me up to a whole new world and I feel/know that I wouldn't be who I am today without it in my life. Reiki helped me work through all of my issues to the point where I felt a continual sense of peace, happiness, love and oneness with the universe. Pertaining to the topic you brought up, I began to "feel" the energy of my surroundings and to see an aura of light around people's heads with defocused eyes. However, I also had an "episode" last year, a few months after becoming a Reiki Master, at a point in my life when everything was perfect...I started hearing voices. I do wonder if it is possible that I was more susceptible to experiencing hallucinations, etc. because of my energy work and my expanding spirituality. I became completely ungrounded, at a state I never want to return to. I do believe that what I experienced came from my unconscious mind and not from an outside source, esp. since I was at the age (19) when mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder typically appear. I began to doubt my fairly new beliefs (which included reiki, crystals, angels, etc.) However, I was able to get myself "back together" in about a month and a half and I'm at peace now, although I still doubt the actual existence of angels and spirit guides.
