Question:
I've not long started my reflexology course and am desperate for some model feet to practice on. Already checked eBay and although they do have some the pictures aren't clear enough for me to splash out the cash on a chance.
I've noticed that there seems to be some disagreement on where things are on the foot. Obviously I want feet mapped out that agree with the VTCT course I'm doing.
Have been getting my practice in on real feet but this isn't ideal for me as I prefer to study in silence and people have this annoying habit of talking.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to where I might look for reflex foot models? Or does anyone have any for sale?
Ta.
imo, i'd not bother. real is always going to be best! feedback is essential... pressure, how feet feel to you etc etc. you coulod always explain to "clients" that in order for them to get the best from the treatment they should try and relax and not talk... but unfortunately, that wont necessarily work. study foot maps from books and enjoy the chance of interacting with people that are going to enjoy what you are doing.you must have a VTCT course book with a foot map to work from?
I'm up to my ears in charts, diagrams and books.
I learn better hands on.
I know practicing on real feet is always better but its not always convienient. I have slight learning disabilities and people just aggrevate them. Add to that the best time of the day for me to study is between10pm and 4am. That's when I absorb the most with ease.
Having model feet to work with doesn't mean I won't get any real foot practice in.
So, back to the original question ..... anyone know where I can get some fake feet?
Hi Valkyrie
I know what you mean about practicing sometimes by yourself.
Sometimes it can just be useful to get to grips with the routine the college wants you to use.
I did my course a couple of years ago, I bought some reflexology rubber feet, just for the purpose of learning the routine really.
And yes they are quite expensive. ButI bought mine from one the reflexology charts and learning aids lot.
Can't remember which lot right now, but I will try and sort out the paperwork for them, and let you know.
be in touch soon.
;)
Hello Valkyrie,
I recently purchased some rubber feet for exactly the same purpose, and got mine from the above website. Although nothing can substitute for the real thing, I found them useful for learning the sequence on. Hope this helps
I have the feet for clients to view and get a better idea of reflex locations, but I'd never actually use the feet to practice reflexology on. The main models on the market are from China, the reflex maps differs from most Asianmaps. Two main reflexesthat are different: the heart reflex is located medially on the foot model (some put the heart reflex near the MTP joint below the 4th phalanx on the left foot), and the heel is considered the "sex glands" on the foot model(most consider this pelvic area: hips, sciatic nerve, etc... with the reproductive reflexes secondary here). Hope this helps!
While in school I found that I could practice "thumb walking" on my car's steering wheel at the traffic light. It was actually a great way to explore various pressures on how my thumb reacted to it.
As for the talkative test subjects ;). Perhaps you could express to them that since you are studying you need them to remain quiet and only talk when advising you on your pressure, or any reactions (sore spots, feelings of floating, body areas tingling, etc...) they are having.
