Question:
Hi everyone,
I have tried to use crystals for some time now & I know the basics but it's the one thing that I have never had any definitive feedback from. I am a Reiki Master so it's not like I can't feel different types of energy etc (& I do various other types of energy work also) but even though I have persisted in using them, I can't say that I know they work (like I can with other things). I never get any results/experiences/sensations etc with crystals (& if I do, they are too subtle) & so there isn't really anyself-proof it works if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I suppose I am just asking for anyones opinions on this. Could it just be that crystals & me just don't go well together? Thatit's just a case of some things working well for some people & not for others?

Have you had anyone give you a layout session? I am sure that with your experience of reiki you would begin to understand the feelings the crystals can give.
When I have a workshop of people new to crystals I start by doing a few ultra simple layouts. Try this one, you need two clear quartz point single crystals, rinse them under cold running water and shake themdry then find a comfortable place to lay down with a pillow under your head and relax yourself. get someone to place a point above your head and one below your feet with either them both pointing in or both pointing out. See what you feel, most people feel the difference and your friend can turn them without you knowing and see if you can feel the changes. I won't say what the feelings are lol ... yet, or you can try yourself and see if you can notice anything :)

If anything, theybecame over cleansed lol (if that's at allpossible!) & I've even tried leaving them for a while on the off chance that that *was* the case but the results (or lack of) were still the same.

Ihave no idea what I was *meant* to feel but here is what I felt:
When the points were facing outwards, away from me, I had only what I can describe as an "elongation" feeling in my head - like it was being pulled up & stretched out. When they were facing inwards, I got the opposite feeling of pressure trying to enter my head from the top. I also felt something going on in my sacral chakra area too when they were pointing inwards. I also briefly had the feeling like there was a line running up & down me from one crystal to the other, but I'm not sure if that was more of my imagination or not. I didn't really feel anything at my feet at all.
So, how'd I do? *lol* What do most people experience? & what's the purpose of this layout? I got the impression it was for chakra balancing but I don't know.
This is a step forward for me in relation to crystals & it's rather exciting for me after such a long time of experiencing very little with it, but one of the main things about crystals that I haven't really ever experienced is the different qualities they are meant to have - like their different purposes certain ones are used for - Like X crystal in a Y position will help with Z problem.
I can feel the energy fields of most things but it's the specifics of using a crystal for a certain purpose that is the main problem for me really.
Does anyone have any suggestions of something I could try of this nature?

My experience with crystals is that they do have some effect. It may be psychological, but I dont think so.
18 months ago, i didn,t even know that they existed, but during a really troubled time in my life, I was guided to a crystal shop (I had never been to one before) and a Selenite piece literally jumped out at me. The properties of Selenite help to connect me to my spiritual guides (again, I knew nothing of this before) and started me down a track of Spiritual growth that has turned my life around.
I have found that there is a more powerful response fromone particular stone than others of the same type and I have had instances where a particular stone has attracted my attention and when looking at the properties of it, I have found that it has properties that i need at that time.
As a very logical person, I did not understand why different stones had different properties until I read a book called Crystal Power, Crystal Healing (Michael Gienger) which explained that the origin and composition of each stone gave it a vibrational energy that could compliment or enhance our own vibrational energy.
I find that by placing a stone in my non-dominant hand, I can feel whether or not that particular stone is going to have an effect for me by the vibration i feel in my palm.
My suggestion to you is to keep trying as I find great benefit from them

I have "used" (tried to use) different ones on different occasions for different things (or just used the one I felt drawn towards) but I can't say I have ever known (or at least be relatively or even vaguelysure) that they have made any difference.
So yes I will keep trying as I feel drawn to crystals in general- I feel *logically* (my form of logic anyway lol) that there is something to it,but any *normal* person would've given up after a few years of no or few results(!) so I feel as though there is some reason I am still persuing this.
Crystal, I am looking forward to hearing back from you on what most people experience with the layout you suggested to me etc :D

ooooh how lovely Star! I bet you had fun!? The use of clear quartz crystal points in this layout is very simple but usually very effective. Pointing outwards they release any excess energies, (so yes partly balancing in a way)and as you said literally expand your aura outwards allowing energy to flow towards the stars and the earth. Some people feel very uncmfortable and light headed and floaty, some even feel sick and get headaches. Usually about ten minutes pointing outwards is enough, definately stop before you feel unconfortable. Then turning the points inwards means that you are drawing energy in and any areas that need more energy to bring them into balance can absorb more of the flow, this is a great time to med and channel from spirit and also recharge your batteries. This way round people seem to feel zzzingy and buzzy and tingling in their toes and fingers and warmth too.
So I think you did very well :)
I don't like complicated layouts, people tend to giggle and grin too much, me included lol, so using fewer stones or laying them around rather than on is a good compromise?
Perhaps you are expecting crystal energy to be more like the reiki energy? It is much more diverse imho and you may like to investigate Crystal Reiki and Ethereal Crystal Training. These both draw on the vibration of the crystal and use it to enhance and blend and 'change' the reiki energy so it is possible to distance heal with crystals and not even have the crystal present. Great for situations when you need that extra boost. Or you could attune yourself to the crystals and work with the enrgy that way? Endless opportunities! Just don't stop lol!

No I'm not going to stop now!:D You may be right, perhaps I am expecting the energy to feel like Reiki energy. I have used what I call "regular" energy with psionics etc, not felt anything then but have seen results leaving me knowing the energy is there, so I suppose crystal energy is different still. I may have had a bit of a mental block because of that but now I think that after experiencing that layout & considering the fact that I may be expecting it to be like Reiki energy, that I will be able to move forwards with it.:D
