Question:
Hi All
Has anyone tried the glyconutrients products by mannatech? I saw a presentation on them last night and thought they could be great.
What experience have you got of them?

Hi Steve
Manntech's licensed product is AMBROTOSE, a glyconutrient complex...
I can give you my view on this product, if this is the one you mean.

Because I have a 'dodgy' immune system I did some extensive research on glyconutrition last year, and came across Ambrotose®, which has a key active and standardized ingredient named Manapol® (an aloe vera compound)
Here's a run down on its beginnings:
The Story Begins with Aloe Vera...
The discovery of Ambrotose® really dates back to the 1980's. Dr. Bill McAnalley, research pharmacologist, was determined to identify the active component in Aloe Vera. After many years, and extensive documentation, he did, indeed, discover the element in Aloe Vera associated with the health-promoting properties historically ascribed to its use>>>>

Although Ambrotose contains Manapol, there was a debate as to how much Manapol it contained.
Here's an article on the company Mannatech by William T. Jarvis, Ph.D. , which is not too favourable
http://www.ncahf.org/articles/j-n/mannatech.html
While looking into how Manapol came about, I found this article at the time, but I don't have any reference now
Dr.Ivan E. Danhof, Phd stated that the only scientifically proven therapeutic agents in aloe vera were the various sized beta-1,4-mannan molecules called muco-polysaccharides discovered by Dr. Bill McAnalley who is named on over 60 patents.
This negated the Iasc's synergism theory which states that the combination of all the 200 solids in aloe vera provides its enormous benefits, thus promoting whole leaf processing.
Dr.Danhof scientifically invalidated that theory and admonished those manufacturers who adulterate their products with sugar to claim high concentrates of polysaccarides.
Dr.Danhof further explained why the therapeutic value of the unique beta-1,4-mannan molecule is destroyed when processed into a juice drink or concentrating into aloe vera gel.
In concluding he said the future of aloe vera belongs to those who have the ability to stabilize and standardize this polysaccharide referring to Dr.Bill McAnalley and his composition of matter patent, filed on behalf of Carrington Laboratories protecting Manapol as the only aloe vera product capable of achieving and making the claim for standardizing betamannans.
Dr. Danhof is regarded by many as the leading authority on the Aloe Vera plant. He has impeccable credentials: B.S. in biology and chemistry, M.S. in Nutrition and Microbiology, Ph.D. in Physiology, and a Medical Degree with specialties in Internal Medicine and Gasteroenterology. He has written 80 research papers throughout his career. Additionally, he served as a Fulbright Scholar in Afghanistan investigating Botanical Medic
After all this I decided not to buy Ambrotose but would definitely consider the "aloe vera compound", if standardized correctly, as an important factor in maintaining immune health.
Manapol®, which is manufactured and patented by Carrington Laboratories seems to have done this. Here's their website:

If you can get hold of a high quality aloe vera supplement, which has been processed and standardized in the right way then I am sure this would be beneficial also
Here's one such product, it seems:)

Hope this all helps Steve.

You're very welcome Steve. Are you considering buying Ambrotose?

Yes, or something else that can do what ambrotse claims to do.
I have a client that is riddled with cancer and came across the ambrotose product by a friend who was trying to get me to join up. I wanted to get some other people's opinions on its effectiveness so that my client gets something that works rather than something that I have been influenced to buy into that may not actually do what is claimed.
Have you tried any of the aloe type products?
Hi again Steve ...will PM you
