does it get worse before it gets better?
Question:

hi all
i'm trying euphrasia 30c 3 times daily for an outbreak of conjunctivitis / nephritis, & have been taking it for 10 days. both my eyes are more inflamed than before. is this normal? usually they'd be about on the turn towards recovery by now without interventions. with choramphenicol they'd be fine by now...
any advice appreciated x

Answers:

Ohh ouch!! why are you taking so much? 3x30c over 10 days is a LOT to take!!!! was it prescribed for you or are you self prescribing? Two probs:
1) it's v. possible that euphrasia isn't the right remedy (or in the wrong form - a tincture in eyebath rather than potency etc) - what made you prescribe it (if you did that is).
2) Why are you taking so much? you may well have *caused* the problem!
Sometimes we get what is called an "homoeopathic aggravation", where yes the problem can get aggravated before it gets better (which we take as a good sign) but it's short and sharp and by no means should you still be getting worse after 10days.
My advice, STOP now! and phone a homoeopath tomorrow morning!
Hope you feel better soon.

mmmm..thanks student! in my defence, it says to take 3 per day until the condition improves! i clearly took my eye (?) off the ball there, was a bit surprised it had been 10 days...the remedy had been suggested to me, but yes, i did essentially self-prescribe. will now give it a rest.
acupuncture is indeed the only thing that has ever worked on this vile affliction.

Hmmm, yes, I have "issues" with the dosage inctructions on the remedies that consumers can buy (mostly nelsons and boots own brand). That is *not* homoeopathy. One of the essential laws of homoeopathy is "Minimum dose" - which means just one tiny (the ones you can buy are also too large) pill, ONCE (though it is popular to give one pill in water over several days). Instructing people to take 3 per day is NOT homoeopathy, it's a homoeopathically prepared medicine but it is most definitely not homoeopathy as it breaks one of the first laws!!!!! I honestly think the dosage instructions are there just for profitability for Nelsons etc...after all, if you used it "properly" you would never need buy any more!
Also, I have every faith that homoeopathy would cure you of it (i.e: you could cure this attack and you could also completely remove the tendency you obviously have to contracting it) but really you would need to see a homoeopath as there are many, many, many remedies we can give for conjunctivitis (euphrasiacertainly wouldn't be my top choice) but the crux is that the remedy prescribed is entirely dependant on YOUR symptoms (which will rarely be the same as anybody elses - i.e: the person who recommended euphrasia to you).
I really do think you would benefit from seeing someone. They would be able to clear up the attack you have now and prevent it from recurring in the future.
