Question:
Hi All
I have been involved with Reiki energies since 1999 and have been teaching for five years now .Last year i attended a three day training on Japanese Reiki Techniques run by fran Stiene(authour of The Reiki source Book) It was a real eyeopener and raised alot of questions within me with regard to Reiki. When you look into the original methods of Usui the meditations, the Chanting ,and the Symbols themselves ,everything now seems clearer .the course really inspired me .I have been using these techniques on some of my clients and students as well as introducing them into my Reiki training Courses and have had incredible feedback. If you look at the original methods without the Western additions it all makes sense and so simple.Of course Usui vision of Reiki was mainly for Spiritual self Development, and at his time it was not uncommon for his students to meditate for months or even an year before receiving the Reiki energies.i encourage all involved in Reiki to look into The Reiki Source Book .I have also heard that some time this year there will be a publication by Chris Marsh who has been studying with Suzuki San cousin of Usui.
I await your feedback on this posting

Hi Ajnamoon,
I have been doing Reiki for 4 years now. 2 Years ago I did a Japanese Technique course with Penelope Quest and found it an eye opener (had previously done and Advance Course with her which was also an eye opener). Have read The Reiki Source Book and think it is an incredible book as it look at the history in the full sense and is not full of bias opinions.
I think in this time he did not use symbols (or did not pass them on to the students)when he initiated people and they had to learn to feel the energy. I feel that even now after initiation a lot of people feel nothing and maybe this is a sign that they are not in the 'right' place of development yet. With self healing and being busy with spirituality they 'learn' to feel the energy. Maybe much the same as the meditations mentioned. It is because of this point that I feel people should get Reiki 1, get used to the energy and then move to Reiki 2 at a later stage unless they have been on this path for some time (i.e meditating, healing, self development etc.). I did Reiki 1 and 2 in one weekend and in hindsight I think this was a mistake (for me!) - however, this is also what lead to me having taken the other 2 courses - the need for more knowledge, understanding etc.
Amen! I believe in keep it simple and think this was the original intent- I think so many people complicate it so much (ego??? finance???) and it is a beautiful and natural thing which needs simplicity, sincerity, unconditional love and intent.
Will keep an eye out for Chris Marsh's book.
Hi anjamoon,
You'revery lucky to have done a course with Frans Steine! I always recommend the Reiki Sourcebook to anyone interested because it's so comprehensive and the authors have put a lot of time and energy into researching the history and explaining the eastern essence of the system...it's a lovely book IMO.
Unfortunately, I haven't had the oppotunity to go to a lecture or course by Frans or Bronwen Steine, but Iwholeheartedly agree with that statement- when I read their book the whole system unfolded beautifully became much more coherent, and as you say..inspiring!It really does fill in all the gaps thatthe western interpretation has left out doesn't it?
I'm glad you had a great experience on your course, and many thanks for sharing your enthusiasm! May your Reiki path unfold a little bit more each day!

Hi Jo
Good to get feedback on this topic.I totally agree with what you say about space and time taken between level 1 and 2 and is what i put out to my students.People seem to be in such a rush nowdays to complete their Reiki training and forget that each part is a journey on its own.I normally say to my students the energy of Level 1 is a subtle one which gradually adjusts the system and after the clearing period you should be getting as much hands on as possible(as you know the more you do the more you receive the higher the vibration goes being an exchange of energy) so preparing for the much coarser and higher level of Reiki 2 .I have read several books by Penolope Quest very inspiring.Yes lets take time to absorb and understand the energies of Reiki fully .After this time working with these energies i feel i am only now scratching the surface, the journey never ends
May the Spirit guide Us all Ajnamoon
Hi Azalia
Yes the Reiki Source is a great reference ,and during the course when it was put in front of us it all connected so well the three symbols connecting with Earth,Spirit ,and Oneness .How can we understand the oneness untill we can understand the Earth, and Spirit connection which makes the Oneness.
Frans Stiene is coming back to the Uk in Sept 2006 running another Master Class (Shinpiden)
May Spirit guide Us all In this Path ,and Enjoy and Understand the journey Ajanmoon
