Question:
Hi all,
Can anyone advise me if being overweight is a contra-indication to hot stone massage?
Thanks Sallyx
Really hope not - my friend and I have been having this treatment regularly over the past year - I am 15 stone and she is 17 stone. Weight has never been discussed with the therapist.
Thanks for your reply ... I have it in my notes that it can be ... due to the vaso dilation of capillaries and therefore increase in blood flow / flooding. As this can cause strain on the heart.
Do you find the massage good? I guess you must if you've been going regularly. I have a few overweight clients who like a lot of massage pressure to be able to reach deep muscle tissue and I feel they'd really benefit from this heat treatment as it's a deeper penetration due to the heat. So I feel they may actually prefer this to manual massage? What do you think?
