My first osteo appt Thurs 3.15pm
Question:

Hello everyone

I am probably leaving this a little late to be asking for advice, but I only got the appointment just before 5pm today.

I have trouble with my knees, which has been around for coming up to 2 months. It is low level (normally 1-3 out of 10) which prevents me from exercising. I've seen a physio twice, and have been doing the exercises. I have also seen a podiatrist, and bought the recommeded supportive shoes and orthotics.

Anyway... my first appointment with osteo is tomorrow afternoon (3.15pm). Can anyone advise how I should prepare for it? I stupidly forgot to ask when I made the appointment, and then 20mins later when I thought to phone back the clinic was closed.

I am bringing along a pair of smallish shorts, and not eating beforehand. I'm also wearing the podiatrist recommended shoes + orthotics, and taking along a knee support I sometimes wear.

Anything else I need to do??

Many thanks,

Ava :-)

I wouldn't go mad prepping for your treatment, just go there with a clear mind, and try to recall as much as you can when asked. When I used to go I just had to strip down to my underwear and he'd examine the spine for me, then do some work on my back with a session on the electrical machiney thing I always forget the name of. Most relaxing. He'd also give me advise on posture and that kind of thing. Don't starve yourself, not sure when the appointment is, but eat a couple of hours before so you don't get the rumbles, and just relax. Let the osteo do the work, that's what you're paying them for. Hope it goes well, used to love my treatments!

Super, that's really helpful. Thanks heaps Gussie. I've returned to work after 3 (almost) weeks hols, and my knees are noticably better than when last here. So hopefully the osteo will be able to help the last bit disappear.

Thanks again,

Ava
