Question:
I have been attuned Reiki 1 for a few months now and have been enjoying the time that the self healing gives me to recharge and destress. I read 2 books on Reiki the names escape me as I write this from work. Both books have mostly the same hand positions. but my Reiki Master taught me different hand positions for self healing. Not dealing with the head posisions at all, but starting at the chest and moving down the body. After reading a very intresting few pages on how the process works I have come to conclution that i could perhaps use the other positions rather than the ones taught.
Would there be anything wrong with this ? and would anyone have thier prefured hand possions and order that they find best.
Hi,
You can put your hands wherever you like. If you want to do a full session then use all the hand positions from the book that feels right. Otherwise just scan and leave your hands until they're ready to move. You'll never do harm.
Good luck,
Christina
The exact hand positions aren't neccessary in my opinion. I was taught for self treatments to use the positions of, forehead, temples, forehead & back of neck, both hands back of neck/head, crown. Try all ways & see what is the best for you.
You said you were taught to start at the chest & move downwards - it's up to you but I personally wouldn't leave the head area out.
The hand positions are only there as a guide really & if you do your Reiki 2 you will most likely move past the standard hand positions & use more intuitive techniques.
Don't worry about positions too much - just do what feels right & what you are comfotable with.
:)
I agree with all that's been said above. We are all taught certain hand positions on our reiki I courses, but you soon learn that you will feel guided to put your hands where they need to go. I personally find doing my self healing around the head area very relaxing.
There's no need to worry about changing from what you have been taught, we are all on our own paths.
Love and Reiki Hugs
Thanks for your comments, its what i thought.. I need to trust my intuition more. Me and my girlfriend will be doing Reiki 2 in the new year...
