Help please with reflexology
Question:

I joined the ITEC Reflexology course at my local adult Education Centre which started in September, the first week our tutor was ill, the following two weeks were spent filling in the required forms talking about the course and getting a copy of the course outline, the following four weeks she was off sick. The college obviously tried to sort things out and at last came up with an answer if we all agreed to get another tutor in who could not start the course weekly until January. This was fine by me. The only problem is she has given us homework to do, we will meet up once a month and then she will go over what we have done and give us more work to do. I am a hands on person I would much rather see and follow things than sit and read but I agreed. I have tried in vain to get stuck into the course that I have wanted to do for the last 3 years, I am struggling ,I read some parts and it feels like it is not going into my thick head! I have completed the Holistic Massage and passed with a credit, done the A&P and passed, but Reflexology at the moment seems like I am reading a foreign language!!!! Does any body have any hints and tips. I don't want to pull out of the class but know that doing the whole course over a period of six months and working full time is going to be tough going!!!!

hi dori, what are you having a real problem with at the moment? is it the concept of reflexology, the theory aspect? i guess you are going to have to wait until january to start practical applications... or is it that that's causing you difficulty?is it possible to get togetherwith some of the other students, weekly even... to go over whatever it is you have been given to last you a month??!! it doesnt sound a great setup, does it [:o]. and when unfortunate circumstances happen, its a rough deal on the students because its too late to get on other courses. anyway, see if you can state here some particular aspects and we can see if we can help. :)

Hi Dori

I am doing reflexology as part of a holistic therapies course at my local college so if there is anything I can help you with I will certainly try.

Since September we have covered contraindications, foot and leg warming routine and are now starting to learn the routine for the actual reflexology treatment. Our first assignment is to make our own reflexology foot chart and I am still working on that at the mo. I got the information I needed from a reflexology book in the college library. Our tutor said it would be a good learning tool and I think she is right.

I hope you do manage to finish the reflexology course that you have waited so long to do, and it is disheartening when things seem to be going wrong, but please don't give up.

Hi,
I started an intensive ITEC reflexology course in September and am speeding along. I know the contraindications etc and have just started on my case studies. Which bit are you struggling with? Have you got the Louise Tucker book? You will need to know everything in it (sadly).
I have some good diagrams i can send you. PM me if you want.
Maybe you can just get stuck into learning the theory like reactions to treatment etc and wait till Jan to learn the rountine??
Good luck.
Jenny

Thank you guys for taking the time to help me. I have today spoken with the tutor who has advised me where to start and what to begin with and concentrate on so at least I have somewhere to start, which I think is what was throwing me. I have had the tutor before and she is really good so I can't see there being too many problems. But if I should stumble a llittle and struggle I know exactly where to come for help and advice. Thanks again.
Dori
